POST 13941 the individual pictures of the drivers the post goes sideways inline instead of down inline.
Great pixs btw had fun BSing with ya and meeting all the Texas VTA regulars.
Looks like you guys got a good group of racers... texastc gpx40 and the rest of the bunch.

That just goes to show that winning in VTA is all about driver skill. We always have guys at our track ask "why can't I use my Tekin or Castle Mamba Pro speed control?" Simple answer is because it's not in the USVTA rules. I believe that ROAR is obligated to allow a wider selection of speedos because they can't show bias towards one (or 3) manufacturer of ESC's. Let the race results show that the Top 3 VTA champions at the ROAR Carpet Nationals all used a Novak Edge ESC (how's that for a plug NovakTwo?).
I actually had my lrp sxx v2 TC spec speedo in all weekend, but it was a Novak Ballistic motor.

Oops, my bad. You were the guy with the Black and Gold '69 Camaro Z28, right?

I didn't get a chance to interview you during the Nats either. Please send me a PM with the following info so I can update my record.
...... 1. Your full name and the name of your home town.
...... 2. How did you hear about VTA racing at the ROAR Carpet Nats?
...... 3. What kind of the following products did you use in VTA at the Nats?
................ a. Chassis
................ b. ESC (if it is a GTB or GTB2 did it have the new X-drive firmware?)
................ c. Motor
................ d. Servo
................ e. Battery (Brand, mah rating, c rating)
................ f. Radio

Thank you.

Ok, so only the Champion of VTA, Tony Phalen, had a Novak ESC and Novak Motor in his car. Still that goes to show the same point I made earlier.

correct, i think the current set of USVTA rules is great and this shows that there is no advantage to a higher $$$$ speedo. This rule helps new racers from tricking themselves into thinking they need to drop 200$+ on a speedo to go fast.

Problem is ROAR does NOT show any 25.5 motors listed on their Brushless Motor Approved List. ( I checked before posting this ) Now, USVTA dictates that only Novak motors can be used. ROAR does not dictate what brands to be used in any class of racing, just guidelines that manufacturers have to follow in order to obtain approval.

With the Elec On-road Nats coming in Aug @ Leisure Hours Raceway, Joliet, Il. With VTA being one of the house classes being run. Would it be run with the USVTA rules, or some kind of mixed bag from both parties ??
USVTA is still the standard as ROAR cannot name manufacturers. Motor, tires and approved ESCs are not mentioned by name in ROAR rules for the class. Keep in mind, USVTA is their own rules sanctioning body and does not rely on ROAR.

Quick question for you all.

Currently I am running an Mi1 with a 73/37 with the stock rear at 1.8. Currently as she runs i am at 3.55 on the diff. My issue is that at normal timing on the ballistic I am slower than the rest of the other spec VTA cars in my area. The temps on the car are around 140 after about 5 min. Timing changed to +40 and the car shot to 170 but i am able to keep pace.

Question 1: Is a cooling fan going to help me and is it ok to run the fan in VTA?

Question 2: If not a fan how would I get the car to about a 4.0 with out over heating. Most of the guys are using a Tc5 or 6 chassis and are at 4.0 even.

The fan is fine but won't help your problem. You're geared wrong. 3.55 is pretty high. That HT track couldn't possibly require that high a ratio. Why not just get the appropriate pinion and change it ??

hey heard about the surgery. hope all is well. Well what type of gearing would be correct. right now the Mi1 runs 1.8 diff. The current gearing the car came with. right now the pinion is a 73 and the spur is 37

So, drop to a 33t pinion and voila !!
73/33=2.21 x 1.8 (internal ratio) =3.98 final drive ratio
