U.S. Vintage Trans-Am Racing
I have a Novak Edge 2s.
My Spektrum radio has a Throttle Punch adjustment, but that manual says its a nitro thing mostly.
Setting the minimum drive or "punch" is strictly a feel thing. If you exaggerate a bit as an example, setting your minimum drive to 100% if it were possible would turn your throttle into an on/off switch. At neutral you would be stopped, but at the first movement of your trigger, you would be at full throttle.
It's helpful the same way drag brake is. If you have a hard time being consistent on getting just the right amount of throttle out of the turns, then using the minimum drive to find the perfect throttle setting for you makes you consistent. I don't like punch or drag brake in VTA, I prefer to learn/practice propper throttle & brake control.

It adjusts the amount of throttle applied with the first touch of forward throttle. Turning this setting up will make the throttle more aggressive. Also be sure to change the throttle curve to linear if its not there already. I would suggest you turn the minimum drive way up just so you can really see what it does then back it down to where you like it.

I agree with no drag brake in vta. You need to let the car roll through the turns with minimum resistance. I run a little drag brake in f1 to get some forward weight shift on corner entry but none in the vta car.

Not to interrupt the drama of tires MIA, but can some people chime with an average timing and fdr for their 25.5? I believe I am a little off the pace and would feel much better in knowing which direction I should go with my motor and gearing. I am running an fdr of 3.93 and timing one mark from being maxed out on a 96 x 40 track and it feels as if my punch is lacking and my top speed is close, but not quite there. Any advise or pointers would be great. THANKS!
on the ballisic motors, you can turn down the timing and add some teeth to the pinion to get some more top end and bottom end grunt

25.5 Temps
What temp does your VTA motor come off of the track at ?
I run a 100x40 indoor track and come off at 175 after 8 minutes. 3.82 gearing and the timing at the + mark.

I have my FDR at 3.70 and full timing on my 25.5 motor. My motor temp is around 165°F after an 8 minute race.

My motor has never been anywhere near 150 deg....
check your drive train and if you have belts, make sure you clean your pulleys

Ok we appreciate the poll but seeing it posted over and over in multiple threads starts to get a bit annoying.
Also is there a reason for the larger bolder text in all your posts?
