I have to disagree. Ride height should be the height the chassis rides with the body on. Not how low the body hangs. If a 5 mm ride height is necessary to protect a track then why are f1 cars and 1/12 cars slammed down to the deck? We all know that rubbing a body is not good for speed or handling and the track owner can ask that a body be raised to prevent rubbing and to protect the surface.

As far as weight shift I have seen many cars at a 6 mm or greater height with light springs and thin oil that still hit the track.

I run in the SWT series. Ride height is checked with the body on.

Trust me, you can clear the 5mm ride height gauge and still drag the body in 1/10 carpet oval. The ride height gauge is simply to keep, ummm, less attentive racers from ruining the track.

Page numbers don't mean anything as you can change the number of posts per page. There are only 327 pages in my view format. Post number is much better.

I do know that ride height NEEDS to be determined with the body on. Many of the local racers need the weight of the body in order to make minimum, myself included. I need to add weight and opted to shoo goo the crap out of my body to add weight and support rather than just add weight to the chasis.

I asked the question in post 9214, brief discussion, then RobK confirmed that it is 5mm to the lowest point on the car, body parts included, post 9217

Guess I need to raise my body. Thanks for the official clarification... Now I have to mess with the roll center to compensate for the higher cg. Good thing I enjoy the tuning as much as the racing

Any time ride height is checked in tech inspection NO PART of the car, body, battery, screws etc. can be lower than 5mm. That is the point of a ride height rule.

The reason pan cars and 1/12 are 3mm is that the suspension movement is miniscule compared to a touring car.

I would like to get into vta racing, and I see they do it at my local track, any suggestions on a good place to start? As in chassis or which ever?
