The race between Melvin and yourself in the main event was worth the price of admission.

If you needed to purchase a battery today, what would it be??? Or will the rules allow for larger then 5000 in 2011? (I would like a 5000 for the weight)

Size:
C rating:

Will the VTA rules be changed in 2011 allow for larger then 5000? Just asking....

for 2012?...wake up buddy

battery will most likely remain the same...Robk posted a few pages back about how many batterys are still available to the USVTA...and its alot...

5000 will do just fine...and a C rating isnt an issue...no rule on it

Thanks for the correction, 2012.

Yes, I looked this post before posting, but a number of the batteries available back around Dec 1, (RobK's link) are no longer available, it seems that the new standard is around 6000 for lower C rating... RevTech for example only has one now (6000mAh, 7.4v, 2s, 28c, Bullet). Was looking for Bullet connectors... Deans connectors seem to have the balance pigtail that rubs on the TC5 top plate.... So my choices are limited...

So I thought I would ask....

Some people get it, some don't. I like to win as much or more than the other guy, but my philosophy on cheating is:
If I cheat and loose, that means I really suck, and my ego is way too fragile to handle that. Therefore I will never cheat!

After a few months off, I went from one of the top 21.5 VTA guys, to a B main 25.5 VTA guy because I was behind the knowledge curve. I know what it feels like, believe me. Every time I had my butt handed to me, I looked inside to determine what "I" had missed, and every time I found what I missed and what could be done to improve.

In my years of experiences in RC, I found that there is very little rule breaking that goes on and the folks that complain the most about others success have not learned to dig deep to learn to improve the their set-up skills and driving skills to compete. Unless things have changed dramatically since I last turned a wheel, most VTA guys are very willing to share many of there insights on these subjects if someone asked them.

In my experience, I worked and studied hard for years and with the help of others and some luck thrown in I did pretty well racing RC. I found if and when you get to the top you may become the target of the "You Cheat" accusation few. After sharing set-up philosiphies and data, some of the same "You Cheat" folks rejected the facts, rejected the help, kept their special "personal" set-ups, struggled in the back, and kept firing the "Cheater" cause I can't beat you accusations. Others listened and learned and did much better.

There is only one winner at any given race, and I'll bet he works harder than most.

A good friend of mine with 26 motorcycle land speed records has a saying, "The harder you work, the luckier you get". (212 mph on a Sprotster in 1971 was his fastest)

If you keep getting bested, I suggest you bust your but and learn how to catch-up if it is important to you. If you don't want to do that, maybe RobK is correct on both accounts.
Nice post Marty -- "The harder you work, the luckier you get". Truer words never spoken

Great I can get a 90c for the same price Darkside suggested which is a 35c...

Most know that 90c is Marketing BS.
Man I'm sorry sorry for asking a question on this forum....

a. I am not understanding why ROAR is worrying about stepping on anyone's toes. If a manufacturer wants to be on the list then build a product that will fit the requirements. Am I missing something?

b. Will a driver figure be required or did I miss it somewhere?

c. I am excited to finally have a car to race at a sanctioned event and will probably not even make it to the main but I will run regardless. This is a fun class and with the exception of some trying to drive through me instead of around me when I cant get out of the way fast enough I always have fun. I get my rear handed to me every time I race by Andrew but have never thought once about how I could cheat to better my lap times. I think its people looking for instant gratification that do it. Pure lazines.

Trying to tune your car by yourself is no easy task. Having helpfull input is a must especially for a noob. Thanks Chris, Ray, Andrew and DD for the help track side.
