We used to run stock car (pan car bodies) on our touring cars just a few years ago. Eventually we went to truck bodies and it became touring oval. But always like the Stock car bodies on the touring cars..

you'll need to convince my wife (who will have just delivered a baby a few weeks before) that I need to be in Orlando for the 'birds

if you can't do that, I'll just end up seeing you at Horsham for the Slowbirds - Jan 29th, by the way - unless that's an old date

any USVTA guys interested in a road trip to PA?

In looking back at all the event pictures I do not see many cars running the driver figures. Is that a rule that isn't followed at all?

I am going to add one to my car simply to help it make weight I think. How are people mounting them other than drilling a hole in the figures head?

Bond it in with shoe goo. One little dab in each corner.

Our club races the owner doesnt "Require" them but encourages them. At the 2011 southern nats they were required. I just tape them in with fiber tape used for mounting batteries. Works perfect. I tape the front and the side under window.

Shoo Goo. I put a blob on the tab at the front and a blob on top of the head and stick it in.

As far as the figures go, it's required to be legal. But, some places are less concerned with technicalities and more concerned with getting cars on the track.

you missed out on probably the most fun day of VTA yet. Most of us had a blast.

Talking

TexasTC is right! You missed the funnest race at Mike's Hobby Shop in the past 12 months! We will definitely have another one, but it may be a while. We have to wait until after the 5th Annual Fall Classic and the 2012 ROAR Nationals (both happening at Mike's Hobby Shop).

Here are the results from Saturday's NASCAR VTA Oval A-Main.

Questions??

Has anybody had any experience running a HPI Sprint 2 in VTA? Would you recommend the Sprint 2?

I ask this because Exotek came out with their Sprint SPX Pro Chassis set for the HPI Sprint 2. I wonder if it's worth the money.

Finally have my VTA car ready, just need to get numbers made, pick up some period correct sponsor decals, and trim down the body posts.

XRAY T2 007 US Spec Chassis with EU spec suspension
Atomic battery box
Novak Ballistic 25.5
Novak XBR Sport ESC
Hitec HS-625MG servo (Took some engineering to make that work)
Gen Ace 5000 mAh 40C 2S Lipo (had a Venom in the car in the cell phone camera chassis photo)
HPI 68 Camaro Body
HPI Gun Metal 8 Spoke wheels

Oh and by the way, it's Red, OH BOY IS IT RED!

Don't know about everyone else but I sure do. I usually do the inside edge first with a dab of glue at the North, South ,East and West points, Then rotate the tire and do the same thing. Let dry. Then I do the outer edge in the same way. The outer edge can be a lttle finnicky because it doesn't have a "slot" on the wheel so I make sure to apply some finger pressure. I apply the glue to the rim edge with a brush so it's more even and doesn't squish out when I apply pressure. Wipe off any excess quickly so it looks decent. Also, I don't use the quick set CA glue. Use the the slower one. On the chrome or matt finish wheels it may help to scuff the outer edge a bit so the glue will really set.
Hope that helps.
