VTA is still strong in our little part of the world here in Florida. Really hoping the addition of official VTA at the Birds' gives it a nudge so more Florida drivers jump in. As soon as i get the word from Mike Boylan, we'll be duplicating the Snowbirds track layout as close as possible and will use that same design for all our club meetings until the Birds' are here. Almost all of our drivers are running VTA as their sole class or as 1 of their classes.

Will snowbirds be running the USVTA rules or their version?

3 long runs with the 25.5 with the new sensor board. So far so good. Hope to be actually racing VTA soon. TC3 has spares on the way from Tower. I should have enough parts to keep it on the road this winter.

Default Narrowest HPI VTA body

What's the narrowest HPI VTA Body? My particular chassis only comes out to 190/192mm. Yes I know they are all 200mm,but are some "narrower" than others? Thanks, Don

So far as I know this will be official VTA rules. I seriously doubt Mike would try to offer the ROAR rules version again as it was a failure for them in the past. With the rise in popularity of official rules VTA, I believe that's what will be offered. Feel free to voice your vote for official rules on the Snowbird Nationals thread.

It really doesn't matter which one is narrower. With the average and quite normal 190mm tc, once you mount the VTA tires and wheels they all "fit" about the same. Some cars utilize wider wheel hubs or have them as a option. This can help in the looks department as you can get the tires to really look good in the wheelwells.
If i had to guess, I'd say the 65-66 Mustang fastback is one of the narrowest.

Vintage wheels and tires are made to widen a 190mm chassis to 200mm at the front axle and 210mm at the rear axle, and the HPI vintge bodies are made to cover that combination perfectly. I know its easy to say that the numbers dont match but when you put it together you can see that it does look very nice.

Our local track is starting up a VTA and/or USGT class, I noticed a lot of talk about Florida- my old stomping grounds. I need to visit my parents sometime soon and would love to bring my r/c. Where are the tracks say in the Tampa Bay area and/or Pasco/Hernando counties?

I guess I'll be picking up a 66 Stang. The chassis measures 190 in front and 192 in the rear with the VTA spec HPI wheels and tires. Thanks, Don

You do know the tires site inside the wheel wells some and have to turn without rubbing body right? Narrow isnt always a good thing

Do you mind saying what chassis you are running because we might have pictures of one already set up for VTA? I think you have the perfect chassis size to run ummmmmm absolutely anything on the VTA bodies list.

This is a project car. I can't even set it up with the proper gearing,ie 4:1. It is a custom chassied Tamiya TA-01. Because of the limited gearing (5.55:1) I'm setting it up with a brushed motor. Either a silver can or a BB 27T set at 0 degree timing. It is in no way legal for VTA with the brushed motors. Nor will I attempt to run it at a VTA event. When it's done I'll post pics. If I could get my hands on a 42 pitch 40T pinion I could reconfigure the motor mount area and get the gearing to 4:1 and run the proper motor/speed control.(25.5 and brushless sc) Thanks for being so helpful, Don

I am not very knowledgable about that platform, but there are guys on here that know everything about it. There might be a spurgear mod somewhere that can get you around the gearing issue.
