I found this in the Reedy Stockstar thread

"Mid/Small track size... I ran 7.09 FDR and it was about right... end of the straight it was keeping up with 17.5"

thats a pretty big FDR difference. For my car according to the calculator its like a 9 tooth pinion difference. Anyone shed some light on this for me? Im tryign to get my car set up to start running VTA and plan on going to the stockstar once I get the hang of on-road a bit. Ill be running some CO27's to start with.

With the stockstar being a brushed motor and a 17.5 being brushless, and a small tight track it sounds about right

Sounds more like 6-cell gearing and not 4-cell.

I'm racing on a smaller track- 35' * 63'. If we have a sweeper before or after the straight, I gear my Monster at 6.67 FDR. Without a larger turn, I'd probably drop down to a 7.2

When my local dirt track switched over to brushless, we had guys going about 7 teeth higher on pinion, so I'm not surprised we need that much more gear from 27T to 17.5

Couldn't help myself, so I painted another body. Has anyone used a digital craft cutter to cut their own numbers? (this is an example - http://www.digitalcraftcutters.com/)

Here is the car I was trying to recreate thanks to the photos from the Historic Trans Am website.(http://www.historictransam.com/homepage.htm)
