That is awesome. Really puts a perspective on the scale speed.

How come that Red and Yellow Camaro had that monster wing on it?

Yes, as a matter of fact, a little poll I ran a few months ago gave me a relatively small sample ratio but I found that it was about 45% of VTA racers running spools, with another 45% using front diffs, and a handful of guys using one-ways (which aren't legal at some tracks). I didn't take into account for people using gear diffs in certain cars, but there are a good chunk of guys using spools.

I happen to run a spool and I like it more than a front diff.

As it relates to VTA cars, could you sum up the difference in feel in the car ,spool vs diff.

I've run all three. I ran a one-way for a long time then switched to a spool for a while. But I've come back to settle on a diff for the best combination of cornering ability, tire and parts wear.

Wow, RC cars have brakes? That's good to know. I have recently traded for an Xray T2 008. It has a spool in front. Does anyone have experience with this chassis in VTA? What would you recommend for this chassis as far as a front diff, spool, or one way. Thanks.

Thumbs up

I don't race often enough anymore to have a real valuable opinion, but I found that on VTA cars, the speeds are slow enough so that the benefit of "smooth" on a diff is washed out by the instant pull off of the corner of a spool—plus the spool is smooth enough on most tracks to not even notice the difference anywhere else.

I have run spools, one-ways and diffs in the front of different types of VTA cars, and I find the spool suits my driving style the most. YMMV.
