I think that it might have to do with the size of the track also as they don't have 17.5 12th scale blinky which should be "Stock" class. it was what was run at the 2008 paved nats.

Thumbs down

Motors should not change anywhere based on the size of the track. ROAR is just behind the curve, which is too bad, because the 25.5 motor rule was discussed and announced over a year and a half ago, and implemented last September.

cool!!

you can check out these 2 threads:

Roar Nats thread - http://www.rctech.net/forum/8066750-post1.html

or this thread - http://www.rctech.net/forum/racing-f...entral-nj.html

you could also hit up gregsharpe or al sodano - those are the 2 main contacts for the track..I actually have nothing to do with that place other then heading up there to race Sharpe or Al can give you more specifics - its gonna be about a 850 mile trip, one way

i'm not even sure I'd be staying overnight for the race - may just commute back and forth, only about a 30 min drive away

i doubt it has anything to do with the jackson track being 'too big' - its more to the fact that 21.5 motors are ROAR approved and the class was written around the old 21.5 rules..

hell, if you read the rules, there is still provisions in the Vintage Trans-Am call to run 4cell setups and a 1s setup...

so it has nothing to do with changing because of the track - it has to do with what's already in the rulebooks

With regards to the 21.5 motors at the upcoming ROAR Nationals, I had to make all the phone calls to decide that and will gladly explain in great length after work tomorrow (Friday). But the just is..... Jackson has four clubs in it's vicinity (NJ, PA, NY) that are all still using the 21.5 motors. With this big pool of local racers to fill the class, everyone involved (ROAR, Jackson, the other clubs, and USVTA) reluctantly agreed that the 21.5 was indeed our best hope of having an outstanding turnout. Besides the 21.5, the remainder of the USVTA ruleset will be used with the obligatory ROAR blinky ESC list.

We know this is a compromise, but that's what race organizing is all about. However, bringing a nation of racers together under two similar rulesets was easy this time because ROAR let us do what will be best for our situation, despite what some of the traveling racers will have to go through to race VTA with us. However, a motor swap is a small inconvenience once you grasp the opportunity we have to put VTA in the spotlight. Everyone who races VTA does so for their own reason, and it's usually a perfect fit that other classes simply can't offer. Here's another chance to show off our post race smiles, to the whole nation!

Locke we do run the same track, Lou's. I was there for the Postman race, was first time out with VTA car. I run an orange Cuda body. I will have to glue the side walls as I only sauce about 1/4 of the inside fronts.

Darkside my fastest lap is a 13.2 I believe the class record is as Locke posted a 12.6. Record holding car is geared closer to 3.15FDR.

It's any ROAR legal 21.5 and the FDR is 4.2 at a minimum, both of which will be tech'd by ROAR's Race Management Team (RMT) to ensure close, fair competition. Quite frankly, with all those blinky ESCs and different 21.5s, I'm glad they are sending the RMT! There would be far too much for any one tech guy to deal with at this race, which is why I fully support the current USVTA rule set for individual tracks/clubs. Makes life so much easier.

I think ROAR is alittle busy outlawing Short Course Tires and Tekin to update rules for a growing class

That 12.6 was mine and I was at 3.3.

that's road course you goof... most tracks don't challenge their drivers like I do my layout. it looked pretty open. and didn't have 3 chicanes like I have on the layout we are running at Thunder RC so the 14.5 laps are probably better with becasue of a higher FDR.
