That is correct. I actually developed that conversion for Victor at Warpspeed. He basicly told me he wanted the battery on the opposite side and handed me an IRS chassis to go off of. I ran into problems with it as he wanted a top deck so he needed me to make a motor mount that would fit as the IRS one did not. So its pretty much an IRS chassis with a top deck and the battery swapped to the opposite side.

I cut his first run of 10 kits and he took too long to pay me for them and when he did, it was with a post dated check. I was very uncomfortable doing business this way so i sent him the drawings and kindly asked him to find another shop to do his work.

Sorry for the hijack, just figured that you guys would like to know what happened.

It's not, thus it has never been run. On a "display" chassis, but that display chassis has a set of hard-to-find 200mm TC3 arms...

The other thing is that this shell may have been painted up before there was a national standard.

I think its beautiful.
Nah, the body was painted after, I just LOVE the Panteras (and kick myself regularly for not buying one when they were $3-5 grand all day long...) and Warren Tope was one of my favorite TA drivers. This is the Pantera he drove in the slightly later TransAm, post "Golden Era" which is what we model in USVTA.

I'm sure some tracks allow them but I would never vote to do so here even though I (obviously) have a body to do so.

Not really a SCCA Trans Am car, ironically, but neat anyway.

Its a wonder that no one makes a 71 Trans Am with the Honeycomb grill inserts and also that no one makes a 70+ Camaro other than the Pegasus.

They just weren't as successful as others. Not ALWAYS a guarantor of sales success or not (witness the Cox Cheetah slot car...biggest selling scale slotcar of all time, modeling one of the least successful racing cars of all time) but with 40 years of hindsight the "bigs" will be the really popular cars.

Protoform 71 Javelin--Champion

HPI '70 Mustang--Champion

HPI '69 Camaro--Champion

HPI '70 Challenger--different, and "we already had most of the body shapes off our 'Cuda so it was cost-effective to do..."

Did I see someone (HPI?) had done a '67 Mustang notchback? Again, Champion.

Etc.

The '70-on Camaro and Firebird just weren't successful. There weren't a ton of 'em raced, either, unlike the '67-69 cars. I'd do a '70 TransAm to honor Jerry Titus if one were available, though.

Are 4000mah 2S1P 7.4V 30C lipo's more then enough for VTA racing and bashing?
What kind of run times will I get for bashing?

Yes Most of us are only pulling 1100 mah per 8 min run I "bashed" mine outside for almost an hour of off and on running with 4800 no problem (LVC did kick in)

Who's planning on being at the Track on Friday for practice?

I'm planning on it, as I need to knock of some serious surface rust from the driver and a new-to-me car. I haven't turned a wheel since the Inaugural USVTA Nationals 3 years ago when I broke my foot marshalling.

Doug,
It will be great to see and race with you again. If I were you, I would not worry about the rust. I will most likely be knocking it off the doors and rear quarterpanels for you during practice.

Does the tack open at 12:00 on Friday?
