Well, Today we had our first T/A race, we had 5 cars, 1 4 cell, 27t, 4 lipo/ 21.5 brushless. The 21.5 cars were all geared between 4.3 and 4.45. the brushed car expirienced electrical problems all day, so we didn't get a chance to see what the speed comparison was.The brushless cars all ran laps within a 10th of each other depending on line and traction. We had good fender to fender racing , most of the time, in the main with the reverse rotation, I wound up going into a brain freeze at about the 5 minute mark, and started looking like it was the first time I had ever driven. no pipes were safe . Anyway I didn't win but had a blast(FUN). I did find out that although the HPI tires are indestructable on carpet,, the asphalt eats them up, I used up a set of fronts and about half of the rears. We generated a fair amount of interest and handed out a bunch of rules sheets. Here's a couple of pics

Here's my "soon-to-be-mounted" 350GT

just waiting on a "couple" of finishing touches like a chassis, wheels, cut-outs and rear bumper mounted

Just did a HTSC race with my carpet setup TA car...4 cells 17.5 final drive @ 3.8 or so....for 8 minutes. I actually ran for 10 minutes and got kicked out because the off road race is right after....I think I can do couple more minutes. Battery is Hurricane EP4200. Oh yeah, 4 cells 17.5 with that FDR is a very much the same as 6 cells 27T motor, may be slower if other are using LIPO 27T brushed. HPI TIRES does good on out door too.

Now...I need a Camero body and Vessel Engine Sound Device.

Doug, what are the actual updated rules for motors and batteries as of now?

We are having a discussion about this here in GA to figure out what to run. Any help is appreciated.

The current rules are (and always will be) posted on the website. There will be no official updated rules to include LiPos until the end of the summer, but that WILL definitely happen.

Personally, I plan on only using a 21.5/LiPo combo in Trans Am next fall indoors on carpet.

RE: Testors ModelMaster Custom Laquer Paints

Yes they work great for Lexan (..not the Enamel). Testors sent us (hpi) some last year to test out and we've been regularly using them on our shells.

Thanks,

AH

OK thanks Doug....as far as 21.5 lipo do you know a FDR to make them equal to the 27t\17.5 on 4 cells?

The tentative number that is being tossed around is between 4.2 and 4.3 FDR. Initial testing has proven that number to be very close between all of the power options.

Here in Ft Wayne, 21.5/lipo is going to be tops. We've tested it, and it's great. Obviously the people that need to know that, does, so let's stop humping their legs about it.

Here is the big question. Is the 21.5/Lipo out performing the 4C/27T or is it really comparable.

Is this like it was when people were running 6C/13.5 against 6C/27T and saying thats about fair, even though anyone could see the 13.5 pulling away down the straight? Is this like that or is it really a close level field?

I think they are limiting the FDR because the lipo/21.5 will be faster.

I know there was a limit with 17.5 motors at first, but as testing and racing went on, that was eliminated. I'm sure Doug will have concrete regulations when all the testing is in.

I think you can be confident there WILL be a 21.5/lipo combo in some fashion for this fall. It will only expand the class.
