I had quite a few discussions with the Florida groups when the USVTA was getting rolling, and for some reason, absolutely no one was interested in listening to reason. Even after the rest of the country was commenting on how fun, competitive and exciting VTA racing was at slower speeds, the Florida guys weren't listening.

They were adamant that they were right and we were all wrong. Even after there were 100-odd cars showing up for the Nationals and VTA was being accepted into ROAR, the Snowbirds and other major events, they still wanted nothing to do with logic.

I shook my head at them many times in disbelief, but you can't force common sense on people, no matter what you do. It wasn't worth the arguments. Only Tim Potter was a voice of reason in Florida, and after a while, even he gave up.

And now, no one in Florida races VTA at all while the rest of the country "gets it" and still enjoys this thriving class. Go figure.

On the upside, VTA HAS made an impact. Many do see the advantages of having slowed things down. As a club director in Florida I may not be pursuing VTA but our GT program , as have others around the country, will benefit from the VTA mentality. In fact, our GT is basically what VTA was until recently. The 21.5/no timing formula should work out well.

In IL there have been some people converting their TC from Stock 17.5 Rubber or whatever to VTA. I for one am glad there is a class using the TC chassis because otherwise I'd have a TC with no use for it. There is no way I could afford to keep up with the guys in stock 17.5. At least now I can somewhat be competitive still and have loads of fun while not breaking the bank.

I am hearing HPI Japan may be in trouble. What will we do with no VTA rims and tires and RCGT wheels, tires and bodies. These are the two best classes in RC in my opinion??

I think the fixed timing speed control and slowing things down has become the fix that has helped TC in general bounce back. Since I have done that with my 17.5 tc class it's gone form 5 to 7 to 10 to 15 and the racing is the closes I have seen in a while

Robert Dirla 1 1 28 6:12.805 12.781
Myron Kinnard 2 4 27 6:01.942 12.824
Jason Graham 3 3 26 6:00.171 12.789
Eddie Leonard 4 5 26 6:09.832 12.752
Scott Fuller 5 2 25 6:06.501 12.902

this was last weekends main and all 5 drivers qualified on 27 laps 6:01 to 6:11

that was a
T3 2011 black diamond
TC5 tekin
T3 2011 tekin
RDX TC sphere
T2 007 GTB
if I remember right.

yes the sphere TC got fast lap in a RDX not a Phi

close racing is better then being 3 laps off the pace because you can't figure out a speed control settings

also personally I don't care what body you use in my TC class just as long as you get out and race!

Maybe Protoform or Proline would take over? ProtoForm bodies with Proline wheels.
