We completely understand the goals for the VTA. Slower racing and equal power to promote close competition, lower wear, easier setups and lower cost. We run at 70% throttle epa all the time on our track and have the most fun by far at the slower speeds. We get it

Tekin will be offering a 25.5 turn in our new Gen2 motor line for those that will allow it.

We are still on the fence on a non-programable version of any of our current esc’s. We really do not think it accomplishes much if someone really wants to cheat that badly, and it does not make the esc cheaper to build. What may make sense is a very low power esc that can only handle 21.5 and slower, with no timing features, that would cost less to make.

Then you should do it. The demand is there in many forms of electric racing. Spec classes are growing because of a need for slower, controllable classes where the technology creep does not eat into the enjoyment of a hobby.

I would like to use the same programmable ESC in a VTA chassis as I would in a 2wd open buggy, but the ridiculous "advances" in programming a brushless ESC have pretty much made that impossible. It's really unfortunate that out of competition comes almost immediate obsolescence at the expense of racers. It's really the opposite of what this hobby needs right now, and it is too bad more people/companies don't recognize why so many people are flocking to lower speed, less power, restricted expense racing classes.

The 25.5 won't do anything for the majority of tracks that use VTA rules, as it is a one-motor spec class. Tekin fans can't use your ESCs because of the excessive programming built into it that defeats the purpose of spec racing. Just offer a real "SPEC" program with TRUE no built in timing that you can easily identify by looking at the ESC, and offer it to the USVTA as an option.

There are plenty of people who would like to use a Tekin in a VTA car but can't because of the open class programming.

not to get off topic.

personally I think all 17.5 classes also would benefit from a Tekin spec if it could still be made at a decent price point lower then the RS. my tracks stock SCT is locked timing speedo 17.5 my stock TC class is lock timing speedo 17.5 it's coming back to ground the timing wars are killing club races. if there was a zero only tekin at about $100 street price you could make a killing. even thought the RS at $160 street is still a killer deal. but then again I have 2 black diamonds running in zero blinky blue light timing mode.. ya I'm stupid like that.

Tekin needs to make a SPEC non programmable ESC, My receiver would really like to get off my servo but my orange little piggy doesn't like to share chassis space...

Spec racing is MUCH bigger than VTA alone, we need something else. Look at the Cirtix, its sold out EVERYWHERE.

TRANS AM ON THE DIRT OVAL @ TRACKSIDE..............from Marty H...

...Any Vintage trans-am body or the vintage oval bodies will be acceptable. (72 monte, 69 telledaga, superbird? etc.)

trans-am tires.

21.5 Novak brushless motor only.

No boost speedos, same as last years T/A rules.

We are considering a no gear limit FDR as s middle 4 (4.6) ratio looks to work best, but why limit the oval crowd.

There is a big oval race saturday. Practice begins 11:00 am and racing
starts 4:00 pm. The track looks great with a reverse bank on the inside
of the corners to help keep you off the boards.

That would be a welcome addition. It's all about the price point
