How was your VTA racing this past weekend?

On Friday we had a handful of racers run at Indy Slots. There is one racer running a 25.5 that is just a tick slower on the small indoor track than the 21.5 motors. He added a cooling fan to his motor and should be able to gear up. Very encouraging for the winter season.

On Sunday we had a full heat of VTA on the asphalt parking lot track at Hobbytown Indy north. I'm still searching for more front traction with my TC3. I have a few ideas (roll center/ackerman) that I might try with a 2nd chassis. For now I've settled on a loose setup and I just drive the wheels off (or at least the front tread!).

Best part of the weekend is listening to the crowd rooting for their favorite car during the parking lot racing. Bad part is when you hear them rooting for your car and then you wreck or blow a corner

Same here, one racer bought a 25.5SS and managed to win the B-main. His car basically ran the same laps as the other B-main drivers, but was more consistent (obviously) and the car looked calmer. I am also very encouraged for the upcoming indoor season, party because I'm hearing people ask about using the 21.5s in our F1s. Too many bustikated 540Js last season.

Unless someone gets smart and switches the RCGT class to 21.5/open speedo.

Nice transition between VTA and 17.5 TC. Would save all the headaches of trying to tech all of the "ROAR Sportsman" speedos out there.

Default 21.5 in F1

Leave it up to Sharpie and j.d. to find a home for all those retiring 21.5s. Question: what speedo would be good for 21.5/F1? I'm looking at my Havoc, and I'd have to build a little trailer and tow it behind, because it ain't gonna fit inside.

You make us feel like geniuses, we've been running 21.5/Open ESC RCGT here at the 'PLEX since April and it's been great. We're in the transition from 21.5 to 25.5 in VTA and the racing has been very close.

I would push for a spec non boost esc myself but not sure how we would fit them in..

Anyway...we are going to get slammed for going O.T.

Questions?? setup advice

Hello All,

I'm building up 4 vintage TC5R's. I've already purchased the hpi cuda and camaro as they still sell the recommended offsets (0/6).

I want to build the Mustang and Corvette:

http://www.hpieurope.com/piw.php?lang=en&partNo=17508
http://www.hpieurope.com/piw.php?lang=en&partNo=17526

But both recommend 3mm offset which are not available any longer.

From HPI
Unfortunately the 3mm offset wheels have now been discontinued - we'd advise the use of the 6mm offset wheels, with a 1mm narrower drive hex on each side of the car.
I've been unable to locate the narrower drive hexes that HPI recommended.

Suggestions please, I want it to look 'right'. TIA!

Cheers,
Mike

Howdy All,

nvm, I see it's been answered to death. Just use the 0mm/6mm offset, even though it's not quite the right offset for the stang. Need a 70 stang, it would be the right shape for the 0/6mm offset.

Cheers,
Mike

well for all the Tekin RS's that are banned from VTA will find new homes, along with the 21.5, in F1
