They are not intended to slip in operation...only if you get a front wheel against a barrier. The idea is to reduce the shock loading to drivetrain components when you hit the barrier. A straight spool sends the shock directly downstream, the slipper spool (supposedly) gives a little bit to save damage to other components.

OK so it has more in common with a servo saver than it would say a one way.

That's actually a pretty good analogy. Except it's a CVD and diff gear saver.

Bob Novak will be leaving CA this AM to attend the BRL finals at Trackside; he plans to get there in time to watch the Novak All Star qualifying.

I read that there will be a VTA event there this week-end. So, if you have time, stop by and say "Howdy".

The racing was fun as usual but the news that came out yesterday ruined the weekend for me. My local track closed down after the races on Saturday. Hoping I can find another track close enough that I can continue to be a part of this great class over the summer and next winter. I have never had so much fun racing as I do with the VTAs.

We also have the rest of the season to finish after that race before we move to outside.

I am going to try to make it to the April race but unfortunately I have other plans for the Mar 28th that can't be changed. When do you move outside and where is the track? I don't mind going to the Quad Cities as there is a great pizza place in Bettendorf and Silvis.

Darkside -- I wish it was a bit closer as I would really like to give Nashville a try.

The BRL event was great! Awesum driving from some of the best oval racers in on the continent.

Novak Two is correct. There was also a Vintage Nascar Class that was heavily based on USVTA rules, with the only exception being bodies. The only bodies allowed were the bolink Super Bird, 69 Torino and the 72 Monte Carlo.
Same tire, chassis and powertrain rules. For the low cost of a new body we had several T/A regulars run this class. The formula worked out very well for som very close door to door oval racing.

Thanks again to Novak and to Bob for their great support of the VTA class. Bob autographed and donated Balistic motors that he then presented the top three finishers in the Vintage class. What a wonderfull guy and Company.

I could see this class running more oval in the future.
