Default Help!

Im new to vta and am having trouble with traction. My question is, is it normal for the tires to go away after @4 mins? My car is dialed for the first 4 mins, will set TQ in every heat race, but after 4 minitues or so it is like you just put it on ice. Is this normal or do I have a set up issue or is there something I can do to the tires (run on carpet with jack the gripper only)?

Yeah, Jack goes bye-bye late in a heat. One of the local fast guys gave me a tip that seems to prolong the inevitable. Slather Jack on early -- put in on right after one heat to get ready for the next. Let it set about 20 minutes. Take an old shop rag and work it into the tire real good, then let it sit. If there's a long stretch between heats -- like an hour or more -- you can do the above again. If you ruin one shop rag on a race day, you're probably doing it right.

Thanks, I'll try that today, just leave it on longer and work it in.

They say tire additive only works for a minute or two - then the natural heat in the tires take over.

It sounds like you are overheating your tires. This happens when your suspension is too stiff. Most guys are running about 17lb springs front and 14lb rear with very long parallel upper links - lower roll center.

The first VTA I ever ran I got second in just because no one was used to running 4cell in a touring car. They all overgeared or something, because they dumped.

We have posted our Press Release announcing our partnership with USVTA:

TeamNovak and US Vintage Trans-Am

We also sent this release to the R/C media; it has been added to the "New Stuff" forum on RCCA.

Has anyone tried the Novak 25.5 motor compared to the silver can Mabuchi motors. Which has faster top speed and which one had better acceleration. Any info would be a big help. thanks

You are fast and can drive. Neither of which accurately describe me. I got second just for surviving. It wasnt just my first VTA either. It was the first one at that track for anyone. (maybe it was the second, but I think it was the first.)

I wish I could have been. Nashville is my favorite place to run since PT is gone. Plus I can race outside of Georgia if I want to. That guy is not my mama.
