i know that Thunder has some great winter races coming up once a month, trophy, money, and prizes...and all are welcome to come and try their skill against some of the best ta racers anywhere

I had that dream. There were several classes of TA. From casual to the more deticated and there was sports GT for the noobs and the relaxed. TC was only for freaks of speed and it was all mod. Then the alarm went off and I woke up to smooth sounds of the eighties.

I'm not sure if your local track keeps any stats. I personally like to keep some basic VTA stats for the track I race at locally. The one thing the stats have shown is that we have a good core group of VTA racers. I like to think that this is a result of the VTA rules creating close, competitive racing.

Here are some quick VTA stats from Indy Slots
----------
91 - different VTA racers (68 weeks)
18 - different top 3 podium finishers in 2009 (39 weeks)
15 - average VTA racers in 2009 (39 weeks)
6 - different VTA winners in the past 8 weeks

thats sweet...I check the Indy thread to see all your hard work...I might try and keep some kind of log this winter for VTA..since Im kinda retired from the class...still pushing and promoting...but Ive stepped aside to allow someone else to lead the charge.....but send me a pm on your formula.....

so Dirla is in slow mode again...hummm,,,,,might be all the hard work he and others have been putting in at the track this month..we will give him a pass this time...lol

but you can post some here if you like, we would love to see them

So instead of being the King of VTA you are going to be like the Godfather of it now.

Don't know if I missed the reply, but I'd like to know where that one came from too.

Has anyone used this:

or this:

It's a bit hard to tell what they're like without paint???

At LONG last our seemingly endless 6-month off-season ended yesterday and the roar of Vintage Trans Am was once again in the air. In the off-season our club decided to support a "Full-USVTA" spec class as well as maintain our popular "Club-Spec" (4-cell / 27T brushed or 17.5 brushless) class. Kind of a light turnout for both so we ran both together (but scored separately) with predictable results.

Firstly...I had a GREAT time (and it had nothing to do with TQ or winning ). I debuted (finally) my TC5 that I built clear back last February. The only way I was able to finally retire my TC4 was to sell the damn thing out of the area so I couldn't be tempted to keep running it like I did all last spring. The car had exactly ZERO track time on it until the first heat except for running it up and down the straight with the body off to make sure it tracked straight, the circles matched, etc. I had a "pro" 17.5 Rubber setup on it (Josh Hohenstein) letter and verse. It is pretty loose at the back on corner entry (I'll probably slow down some of the forward weight transfer) but it was VERY predictable and made for FAST rotation into the corners. Much "edgier" than I'd ever driven a TC (I usually have slow-reacting soft but VERY predictable setups) but it was damn fast.

Looking forward to a season of fun!!

Car was painted by talent extraordinaire Shawn Kiely / Big Fin Graphics here in Billings. Helicopter fans will know him as the graphics and web dude for HeliProz. The challenge was to create a "vintage-possible" paint scheme that utilized "my" colors that all my 1/12 cars (and my WGT, and my Slider Late Model, and my...) are painted in which is a modified verson of the Falken team colors and scheme to which we added a pearl white accent. This car is the first Shawn has done with the flat black hood and he did a great job. It is backed with black paint on the inside so the inevitable scratches in the flat finish will still appear black.
