1.) Quite.
2.) It hasn't made the list yet. Not even the vintage Corvette has made the list yet.
3.) I have no clue nor do I understand why one brand was decided on.
4.) Any chassis are legal.
5.) No they aren't. Once your tires turn to slicks, you will be cornering and handling like nobody's business.

WHAT'S MY SCORE?!! DO I GET A COOKIE?!!

just for posting....I run RTR TC3 tub, Orion 3600, Novak GTB/Motor, and Spectrum rx/servo....and have WON plenty of races with it...the problem I have now is that Im faster than my car...

but with my wifey approval...I have a new TC5 R, LRP SPX, Futaba 9551, SMC 5000 28c, Novak 21.5 all new...YUMMY!...Valentines Day gift....

is having all this new stuff going to make me faster than before????...dont know...but after racing against some Xrays 009's and Corrally's and top notch touring car guys that are using the "BEST" stuff...it makes you want to have at least the best of what you can afford....I still won with my TC3...but Im looking to improve my over-all....the USVTA 2009 NATS....

rambling.....if anything should be done IMO...is for sponsor drivers to race seperate ...if enough are there...and if a non sponsor wanted to test his/her skills than so be it.....

but the just remember the best stuff dont mean squat without the best setup and driver

Doubt it. Slower is my guess since you'll prolly be chasing setups for awhile. Work on your setup...I don't want you caving in and pulling out the standby tc3. We'll find out Sunday what you can do w/ your new car! My tc4 is ready to eat. See you at practice tonight??

Fail.

Both the Pantera AND the Corvette raced in the SCCA Trans Am starting in (iir) 1974 when 2-seat bodies became the norm for the class. They did not race in the era being represented by VTA racing.

I've done a Pantera anyway, a replica of Warren Tope's TA ride before he was tragically killed in a racing accident.

Note in the rear 3/4 view how the pinstripe around the rear wheelwell lines up with the same pinstripe into the separate rear valence. Those pieces were painted separately (as provided by HPI) and the pinstripes STILL line up...we didn't know for sure until it was all mounted up.

The "mesh" in the front and rear openings is painted in.

And where the dark blue paint continues back in "spears" at the top of the sail panels...don't even ask how to mask and paint up in there.

You should put a net on the driver's side window. Then hang that shell up. It is absolutely gorgeous!!! Great work and great details!

Thanks for all the posts in response to mine.

I should have added earlier that I don't feel the need to buy to compete in this class. I just feel that I have a responsibility locally in VTA to let people know that it is driving and setup that win races in VTA. Until I feel I have totally mastered setting up my TC3, I have no need to change unless I want to try out my old HPI Pro 2 .

Great response from Kevin K. about what he is running. His car is always at the top of the field. That is the type of information that will help this class grow.

The more that the "fast guys" can share about how they aren't spending a fortune in this class on new technology the more less experienced racers will focus on setup and driving and not buying the latest gadget.

http://www.scca.com/documents/Pro%20...ns-Am/1974.pdf

Found this while researching the Pantera and Corvette answer... So i do stand corrected.

What i really want to know is when will HPI produce the Ford Escort Trans-Am body?

I believe a small Brit mfr does do an Escort in styrene. Keep in mind these are NOT the Escort "World Car" from the '80's-'90's that we in America are familiar with...the late '60's-early '70's Escorts were VERY successful rally and circuit racecars, the successor to the earlier Cortinas.
