Scott,

The enduro fire was from freeze spray, not a lipo battery.

Yes...exactly as I described...would have happened regardless battery chemistry, only needed the spark from connection. Hence the "but that's another story" tag.

Those oval guys know how to party!!

One of the battery fires took out the guy's car, laptop, and some other stuff. I bet HE wishes he'd dropped $25 on a LiPo sack!

So yes, FUD indeed. Right? Maybe time to re-evaluate those "facts"? I'm pretty certain the 'birds require ROAR-approved LiPos.

I concede (and did long ago) that LiPo is here to stay, but taking minimally invasive safety precautions is only being smart.
Actually there were only 2 lipo fires and they were both the same guy.... He was charging the pack in his car using clips in his deans connector the clips shorted out cause the pack to go up. he was told to leave after the second fire. the 3rd fire was from freeze spray theres a vid of it in the snowbirds thread.

And thank goodness for that!! Actually I hadn't heard he'd been ejected (nor that he'd been responsible for TWO fires...Holy Cow!!) BUT...the problem demonstrated is that LiPo's, while great, aren't idiot proof. And the world is FULL of idiots.

There's an old saying I've always liked to use on occasions like this:

Just when you think you've made something idiot-proof, they come out with a better idiot.

I know these guys are to busy arguing over Lipo fires to notice, but I see what a nice job you did on that car. That looks sweet man!

OK, found an IRS TC3 kit to test this lighter car, shaft driven theory. Wish me luck, this could be fun!

It's a joke. Enjoy it. It's OK to laugh at yourselves, sometimes.

I've been thinking about an easy FDR check. With all the interchanging of pulleys checking the gearing and "knowing" the stock drive ratio doesn't work. I think a small paint mark on the spur and roll the car 1 revolution of the spur ie: 1 motor rev. The car if legal should roll a predetermined distance or less. Quick and easy.
I still think less motor temp is a bigger deal....I dont think the torque would even be noticeable. Being able to run a 4.2 at any track without heating up would be the greater benifit......I have read about the guys that run 4.2 and say there motors dont get hot but at my track that aint so...
