I'm setting up a TC3 for this class. I have the Shelby Mustang Gt-350 body and am trying to figure out the correct wheel/tire combo.

I read the rules and it states 26mm wide x 0mm offset front and 31mm wide x 6mm offset rear. I "don't think" that will work with the GT-350 body but I really don't know.

I called HPI and they told me to use a 3mm offset front and 6mm offset rear with 31mm wide tires all around. I don't even see a 3mm offset rim on their website.

Reading the HPI website comments listed for the body it would indicate using 6mm offset (31mm wide?) all around for a 190mm chassis.

Am I missing something???

If somebody has already done this setup please let me know what wheel/tire combo worked for this body.

Here's a photo of what I'm trying to replicate.

There are no tire and wheel options for USVTA racing (only wheel appearance, not width). There is only one legal combination listed on the USVTA website rules, and they DO fit under the GT350 body. I'm surprised HPI tried to steer you in the wrong direction and away from the standard rules.

Stick with the standard 26mm/31mm tire combo and the 0/6 wheels front & rear and you shouldn't have any major issues with fit.

I do know that some guys running Mustangs have had to do minor work with narrower hubs or wheelbase adjustments to get perfect fits, but I haven't heard about anything major to make the body fit properly over the tires.

No, there is only one tire legal for USVTA racing, and that is the treaded HPI vintage tire.

As per the rules, we can't run HPI slicks. If we could, they'd be on my car...

That's good news, thanks for posting it. I'd love to see a photo of it.

Just to verify, with the 0mm offset x 26mm front and 6mm offset x 31mm rear setup?

I'm ready to order the tires/rims and just want to be sure.

Did you go with shiny or matte finish chrome?

I actually ran the slicks a couple weeks ago, as one of the guys at the track bought a used car that had a set on it. The car was actually not as good on the slicks, kinda loose. The rubber is pretty hard for both tires, so maybe the slicks are not as good as the treads. Either way, the slicks are illegal

Just wondering since I don't have a temp gun. Running the 21.5/lipo, gearing at the 4.2 FDR, do you think I need to bother with a heat sink for the motor?
