That layout and facility at 360 looks sweet.

Kenji, guys will continue to learn how to drive and continue to look for better stuff, even with the limitations of the tires and bodies...

The SPIRIT of the VTA being a INEXPENSIVE "Fun" class of racing will in most areas slowly disappear, cause guys will continue to take it more and more serious, while others will just see it as a class they want to WIN (at what ever cost)

Part of the original flare the class had was "OLD" TC's that most thought weren't competitive anymore, but now guys are BUYING cars specifically to run VTA - and IF they buy something, they don't want to buy junk or old stuff.

Apex made a point with the lap time differences (10.1 vs a 10.8) and myself, unless I'm having a GREAT day don't run consistant enough...so I might do a 18.2 second lap on our large layout, followed by a 21.8 second lap. But the guys who we have running who are good On-Road racers can pull 17.1's to 16.9's the entire run. (We just do 5 minute racing in all of our classes, to keep the entire race day flowing)

Well there is something to be said about a car that is well worn in and looser than a tight newly built chassis. I'd assume the looseness helps with speed in the turns.

I just started racing VTA. I am an avid 1.8th offroader so I owned nothing onroad. I wanted to run VTA, so I bought good equipment. I learned many years ago that you get what ya pay for. I didnt want to buy twice. My goal however now, is to move up to 13.5 from VTA. I might of run an old car if I had one laying around. So I am one of those guys with the 900 dollar VTA setups. The class is fun as hell, but I hate the longevity of the bodies.

I probably have the oldest car and the least invested in attendance, an MR4-TC with a 21.5 and a 2 year old Orion lipo. It qualified pretty well, but couldn't find any "love" in the main. LOL

I'm not really sure that higher end speed controllers make any difference in VTA. These were the top 3 finishers in the Grand Slam race that Lidebt2 mentioned before (yes I'm the third person). All three of us were using different ESC a Speed Passion, LRP and I was running the novka XBR (Havok equivlent). To be perfectly honest if it wasn't for the massively bad traction rolling issue I had when traction really came up, Steves lap times and mine were pretty close. I also haven't noticed any difference when I use my XBR Vs. my Tekin.
I ran vta for the first time and had a lot of fun, I have to figure out why my car want's to snap spin at the end of the straight, even after being de-tweaked. I ran the novak [email protected] with a GTB and well used smc lipo and my car was about as fast as everyone elses. I managed a 12.1 in the last qual, if I could have fixed the spinning out issue I could have put in more a fight, but it was fun so I didn't really care.

Are you running your Type-R in VTA?

No love for me either! 2nd to last from a pointless hack on the first few laps.. Still had fun driving back up to 4th. I'll be putting in my 21.5 by next race Darryl..Battman says he won't run his 27t again, going to 21.5.. LOL. I'll believe when I see it! lol.

actually no with all the slop it's a hand full to drive and cut the corners tight. a unpredictable car is never easy to drive even if loose is fast. a smooth rolling car can be had with a new car and a little work, and it will always be better then a worn in/out car.
