Why are so many people worried about ROAR?

Yes, it is the EASYNESS of brushless motor and lipo....

I am no motor tunning guru or nimh battery speciallist. But if you can ask those who are, and give them all the time and money to play with, I can garantee you that a 4 cells nimh 27T brushed motor power TA is just as fast (or even faster) then 21.5 Bl with LIPO.

I use 21.5 and lipo because straightly the EASYNESS, and I don't know nothing about tunning 27T motor and play with 10 packs of 4 cells NIMH.

This is the last paragraph of the official rules.......

MOST IMPORTANTLY: If it's not in the rules, and does not encompass the spirit of slower, controlled racing with realistic looking cars, consider it illegal. This is called the "Spirit of VTA" Rule. The class is based on slower, equal playing field competition with less traction, minimal aerodynamic aids and mostly older carpet racing technology. The final objective is close, fair, wheel-to-wheel racing for all. All decisions of the race promoter or track owner are final.

Slower.........Equal playing field and OLDER racing TECHNOLOGY are really not being applied to this class. It's been said more than once in here that the NEW technology is faster than the old. I thought that the whole idea from this class was to be slower.

Sure not trying to get everyones blood pressure rising here...........just trying to find out how this is a slower and equal playing field in the "Spirit of VTA"
It is SLOWER...probably the slowest (may be MINI are the slowest, I don't know 100%) class in any carpet RC series (1/10th scale).

Older racing technology - plenty of the FAST guy are using a 3-4 years TA05 series. My last VTA car was a Schumacher Mi2EC, which is a 4 years old chassis. PLENTY of TC3, TC4, Losi XXX-S..........they are OLD enough. And they can be purchased used for less then $100 with options.

Equal playing field.......using only 1 brand motor (still I think it is the BEST THING ever in VTA rule) Novak 21.5.....I don't know what else we can do to make that NOT EQUAL. Use your choice of LIPO, then you can NEVER complaint about your cell is dumped, not peaked, not going to last 8 minutes or not enough punch.........because if any of the above happened on your LIPO, your lipo is toasted.

You can argue about VTA made everyone to buy $150 BL system with $100 lipo...but you have to understand, afterall, this is still RACING. If you don't care about the result of your race, you do not have to be FAST and get the 21.5. Use your 27T and Nimh and be slow and have fun. But if you want to win and fast, you have to get stuff that make you FAST.

I don't cause I am SLOW no matter what I put on my car...LOL.

[QUOTE=liljohn1064;5286363]Jon, Novak is the spec 21.5 motor for this class. Even the Novak 21.5 does not show up on the ROAR approvals page. As this class is run outside of ROAR, that will never change.[QUOTE]

Sorry to burst your bubble but their are ROAR rules for VTA, that are a mirror of USVTA rules that do allow for open 21.5 approved motors. As far as 21.5'
s on or not on the ROAR list, the rules for this spec motor were only added 2 months ago. There's one 21.5 on the list and more to come of which I'm sure the Novak motor will be included once it's sent in for approval.

Geez....

We don't run ROAR rules. Period.

We run USVTA rules.

In the VTA class at my local track I've personally raced and finished 1st with

- HPI RS4 Sport 2 with gear diffs - 4-cell/27 turn
- HPI RS4 Pro 3 - 4-cell/17.5
- TC3 - lipo/21.5

I've also seen the following take 1st

- HPI RS4 Pro 4 - 4-cell/17.5
- TT-01 - lipo/21.5

Other than the TT-01, you cannot buy any of the cars I've listed new in a hobby store unless the kit has been sitting on a shelf collecting dust. So much for "old" cars not being able to compete. The fact that pretty much any touring car can be competitive in this class automatically makes it fun in my opinion.

Bubble bursting... very interesting. ROAR mirrored recently adopted USVTA rules don't matter to this class whether ROAR has accepted the class or not. I do not and will probably never be a ROAR member and probably not run beyond local and statewide events as this the way I enjoy my hobby. Dawn has stated previously that although ROAR cannot mention specific manufactures by name that the general understanding was and always will be that USTVA rules will always supersede ROAR in this class.

Back at ya.

I still think the 1 brand 1 motor rule is the best part of this USVTA. If the motor are open (to brand), it is no different to stock rubber TC or any other TC event except it use VTA body and tires...

Again...USVTA should be the RULE to use.

Lets not go down the ROAR road again.

It 's very simple, we know ROAR can't say Novak only or HPI tires only, but anyone that will be racing USVTA at a ROAR regional will most likely be running those anyway because they run them back at their club.

Lets just make it REAL SIMPLE people:

At a ROAR event, the ROAR rules apply.

For the 99% of us that race locally, I would assume all the tracks are staying with the USVTA rules unless they themselves change/modify them as they see fit to suit their customer base.

Now, can we all move on and race some toy cars please

Jimmy
