there isnt anythin in the same building with 21.5. waitin for them to say 4.4 instead of 4.2. transam shootout was another case n pt. silver cans, bleh, guys get bend over for power and plop 50bux down for doc to hand em some freak thats been not been cranked (believe what you want) and spins like mad. so much so that coopers with season handouts were 1.5sec/lap slower than wk b4 when TCS was run. crazy indeed. 540 racing just sux period unless every1 has an equal motor. ray k did somethin cool with 'senior spec' or some folks still affectionately call it 'TL01' as it was called for over 10yrs at 1 of the local tracks,....taking the great idea that was tamiya spec cars (tt01s) and using handout 'red-dots' from doc himself. no issues w/motor 'whinings' there.

oh well, 1 day i might run this TA car. just dont know when.

Joe- If you need a 27T let me know, I have some here not doing anything but holding paper down, that way you will not have a problem and be within the USVTA structure for club racing here.

I heard the same thing I might bail on the class this weekend if that is the case. I don't even have lipos if I get a 21.5 can I run it with a 6cell pack?

most of the people will run the Tamiya bodies like this one:

http://www.rc-union.com/images/58407.jpg

Although some guys really like the slower speed, kind of like TA racing and just slam a Stratus body on just to get into the race.

It's interesting I saw a small contingency of guys this Summer move from TA to GT3 because GT3 is a slower class than stock rubber or super stock. TA gave them a taste of competition based on driver skill and they applied that to GT3.

The closest races in terms of finishing times is always TA and GT3 with our regular racers.

HA!

I thought that was a really good day of racing. You drove for hours over state lines to get to the track and snagged a very nice win that day. I was glad.

Hey just a note about TA and silver can motors at our track......

It's not something that happens all the time. It's also something I would not promote. We've just been doing some testing and playing around.

It's definitely not something I would allow if I had TA racers who were visiting from far away, or at a bigger race. We've only done it when there has only been our regular club racers racing and everyone is aware of it.

I wouldn't want anyone getting the wrong impression about our track.

I miss Doc's Thursday Night F1's with club motors. Guys that spanked my in TC, I could normally be within a lap or 2 because it boiled down to driving and not as much set up.

While I like the USVTA, I wish I had heard about his TT01 class in Frederick earlier, considering a new TT01R can be had for $70

Takes a little longer, but even with shipping charges, lot cheaper than Tower.

I've been ordering my Tamiya stuff from a shop in Japan on EBAY, half of US costs, only cost $14 to ship(not much more than US online stores) and had it in less than a week.

So its literally a field of Porsche GT3 cars and not like a LeMans class?

IMHO, there is no better class than GT3. Especially, if the motors are house hand out motors picked randomly from a bag.

This class is all about the right setup on the right line. VTA is a very very close equal to this.
