Also, you could ask one of the guys who are painting the vintage bodies to send you the decal sheet that comes with the HPI bodies. The hard core guys are painting everything on, I am sure one of them would drop them in an envelope

"Wallstreet" here on rctech has numbers left over from the nationals, which also have USVTA logos on the sheet. PM him under that name to find out what he has.

Decal Designs did the numbers, but I don't know if he has those files anymore. If there was an enterprising decal guy (hint hint) he would make up some different number designs for Trans Am.

Team Magic E4JS: Good platform for a VTA car?

I have a TC3 which I'm going to set up, but my son needs a nice solid performer. I'm thinking this or a Cyclone S.

Hey Guys,

I am trying to figure out the gearing for my VTA car...and I have worn the Gear Chart Calculator out! I am trying to get my FDR between 4.2 - 4.3 for the HPI Sprint 2 for use with the 21.5 Brushless/Lipo combo. I would have liked to keep both spur & pinion HPI brand, but that seems to be impossible in either 48 or 64 pitch - the smallest spur and largest pinion combo available for both are still too high...

I found that I could use a Kimbrough 88 tooth spur (64 Pitch) with an HPI 50 tooth pinion (64 Pitch) for an FDR of 4.29, but it doesn't look like the Kimbrough Spur will bolt up like the HPI one does - the inner holes do not line up the same...???

Can anybody else give me some more insight into this or lead me to some other brand spur/pinion options that will work with the HPI Sprint 2 to get the FDR that I need???

Any help is appreciated...Thanks!

JDob, take a look at the PRS spurs and pinions, they mounted up on the HotBodies cyclone quite nicely...

As far as figuring out a combination you can feel free to use this:
http://cell.sixfoottiger.com/

Something I put together for the guys locally to use on their cell phones on race day, just a couple of really simple calculators to help with these crazy gear rations...

I did yours real quick and came up with a 86 / 43 would get you to a 4.3FDR (the Sprints transmission is 2.13)

By chance does anyone have a carpet set-up for an RDX that has worked well for TA?

Excellent write-up! I made print outs to show to some friends that are showing interest in getting into RC racing. Isn't it funny how it takes something that's a tribute to the PAST to make a hugh impact on the future? Vintage TA is the way!
