The original Javelin #6 is still being raced by one of my father's friends.. It was originally driven to the 1971 Championship by Mark Donahue.

I am waiting for a Javelin, before I can recreate his car. Just couldn't do it on a Cuda, Mustang, or Camaro..

I haven't seen the RC version on here that you are looking for..

Here is a link to Historic Trans Am Racing..

Just jumped into the trans-am class. What is a good FDR starting point for a 27t brush motor.

Thanks

Powered with 2s LiPo and Tamiya Silver Can motor...

Works out almost perfectly--slightly higher top speed capability of motor/battery combo negated by smaller diameter wheels and tires, slightly higher torque capability conferred by smaller diameter wheels and tires negated by poor torque characteristics of Silver Can motor.

LOTS of body choices too.

Stock posts will work fine, provided you haven't already cut them down too short. These bodies are pretty tall.

After perusing those photos, I think that the Javelin is the next most needed shell. then we need a late 60 firebird and the early 70s Camaro and TA.

Whats the deal with the Porsche's Alfa Romeo and Datsun's? Were they in a separate class. It would be cool to see some of them on the RC track as well.

Whats cool about these is that they have their own scale tc to go underneath and its not an M chassis, but I think you could use the shell on an M chassis. If you wanted to... Just for bashing. Or teasing pedestrians at the local classic car show.

This is one of my favorite pages with pics of the 'HISTORIC TRANS AM' racing body types

http://www.historictransam.com/makes.htm

on the Datsun 510 and some of the other smaller cars, I believe the class was called U2 (under 2.0 litre motors), and later I belive it went up to 2.5 litre motors.

I went to some 'Trans-Am' races in the 70's and 80's.

I remember as a kid being confused between the SCCA Trans-Am and the IMSA GT cars (I also went to several Camel GT races back then)

I loved going to RIVERSIDE RACEWAY and LAGUNA SECA and watching Road Racing...then much later at the LONG BEACH GRAND PRIX with the Trans-Am cars ... I liked those too.

To the VTA - Great Job getting this class organized~

One of the guys who races at Fantasy World and Seattle Indoor Raceway has either a Camaro or Baracuda that is painted up in the Javelin colors. There have been a couple pics of it around. He did a pretty nice job of it and wheels it pretty darn quickly. Maybe check the Fantasy World, SIR, or Sizzler threads under "Northwest Racing" in the Regional forums.

Also, with the new 1MB limit on pics posted to the RC Tech resource you'll see a lot of pics up for a while then taken down. Unlike the "old days" when they were up forever. If you see a pic you like on RC Tech (like the Javelin, or...) you'd best save it because that 1MB gets eaten up MIGHTY fast if you're listing stuff for sale, use large format pics, etc.
