We were contemplating a sticker that said:

Made on Armstrong Avenue in Irvine

But it had too many words.....

Can you blame the companies for choosing to spend 1 cent less on a imported capacitor than on one made in the usa? and the capacitor will work just the same. i have a vcr player that was made in china, i've used it for almost 20 years. it hasnt worn out, its capacitors havnt reached the end of thier lives. would an american-made on have lasted the same amount of time? why does it matter, it works just the same.

Now obviously there are things that are worse when made in china. toys, plastics, and batteries! but little things like capacitors, resistors, transistors, and many chips work just as well as american made ones. THUS, why should it matter? those components will never wear out in the useful life of a radio. unless you use a 3pk for 50 years, maybe...

the words "Made in the USA" can be misintrupreted. but in my head, in my world, that means "assembled in usa". it doesnt necissarily mean the components were made in the usa. I dont care if a resistor was made anywhere else, it'll work just as well: my 20-year-old VCR just shows. Now maybe that Dipshit thought it meant "every single little part was made inside the usa, sent to the company, and then assembled inside the usa too."

i dont care about the small shit. ya know, it really doesnt make sense. i would have thought that SMC or other battery companies would have been sued for thier explosive 4200's. but no, no-one has done so. And yet a company is bieng sued merely for a sticker on the box, which DOES NOT EFFECT SAFETY AT ALL. the suing makes no sense!!! what has this country turned into?!?!?! a bunch of dipshitted, hipocritical, cheap, decietful, loophole-finding sissies?!?!?!? i thought we would respect ourselves more than that!!!

You're my kinda guy!

I can't help but think when you guys were going through that, you'd look around the building at the crazy hitech equipment, assembly, packaging, engineering, All the employees and whole lives worth of dedication to the hobby, and all the stuff you do, and said to yourselves, "... You gotta be freaking kidding me..."

As far as I'm concerned, and not that anybody cares, to me, you guys are made in the USA. And I for one appreciate Novaks dedication to the hobby. Do I always agree with certain Novak things. Nope. But I appreciate what you do.

Going through the "Five Stages of Grief", Novak-style :

1. Denial: The initial stage: "It can't be happening."
2. Anger: "Why me? It's not fair."
3. Bargaining: "Just let me live to see Novak's next product."
4. Depression: "I'm so sad, why bother coming to work?"
5. Acceptance: "It's going to be OK."

There is an additional sixth stage:

6. Reality: "Get out the checkbook."

I can see it's not just the extra x in nexxus you're missing.

Wanna sue me for that too?

This is about companies being honest. If you had a choice between buying a Losi car manufactured in China or in the USA, what would you buy? The companies put the "Made in the USA" sticker there for a reason - they think consumers will be more likely to buy them and they are more reliable/better. This could result in higher profits. There is a reason why "Made in China" stickers are in 5 pt font and a 1/4", but Made in USA is 20 pt font with a red, white and blue flag on it and stretch across the package.

There is always the question of intent - did they "forget" to remove the sticker when they off-shored manufacturing? Possibly (maybe too busy counting the extra money). Are the laws too complicated - possibly.

They can always do what Apple does - "Designed in Cupertino."

"Designed in Irvine" has a nice ring to it.

Now we are on to "interesting debate".

Scenario 1)
Car "A" made in the USA, or Car "A" made elsewhere. The debate would have to be, what is it worth to you? To have the same exact car, but with a different country of origin. Both are okay'd as acceptable and both are capable of winning. What's the value of the country of origin sticker?

Scenario 2)
Car "A" made in the USA, not much of a team, not as competitive as it could be. Car "B" made elsewhere, good team, car wins everywhere. Both cars have the same price, are the same scale, same class, compete against each other on the track. at any event, Car "B" wins and has say 6 others in the main. Car "A" has one car in the main, he finished 8th. You're a consumer, you came on a forum, asked a question of the masses. You asked, "...Noob here, I'm in the States, getting into racing, which is better, Car "A" or "B".

Which car are people likely to recommend?

I feel to make this generalization, it has to be good because it's made in the USA, is just as ignorant as saying it has to be of low quality because it's made elsewhere.

A product has to be able to stand on it's own. I wonder if there has ever been an RC related thread where somebody actually suggested to purchase a product, solely based on it's country of origin, even if the product recommended was pretty much believed to be of less performance.

No idea. Just debate topics.

my wife has a curling iron that has a warning label on it. one of the warnings is "not for internal use".

does that really need to be spelled out for people?

I think this lawsuit is bullshit. How many clones of cars have we seen the last coupe of years and did the manufacturer sue the other companies cause they "stole"the design? There are tons of fake brand clothings available made in China, Poland, Turkey etc. Many of the fake clothing are also then "made in USA" but never sued. Also many people think often that products are made in the USA because the brandname is registrated there: for excample the bikename Trek is registrated in the USA but the bikeframes are manufactured by Giant in Taiwan just like Specialized, "but proud made in the USA" NOT.
