Cool Battery Choices w/ Maxamps in the game.

So ... I've read that they have their own cells they are selling now .. I smell a shootout shaping up, I also see some deer in the headlights at the McDonalds menu when it comes time to buy.

Ener-g 4600
Max amps 4700
IB 4600
EP 4600
Grepow 4600
E-power 4500 (4600)
Elite 4500

Did I miss one? The above list is making me seriously consider just buying Li-Po for the next season and finding a track that would let me race them.

http://www.maxamps.com/MA-4700-Loose.htm

Some of the cells you listed are probably the same cell in different shrink. I doubt there are quite as many choices of cell as people think. Though things are much more confusing now that everybody is putting their own shrink on cells and keeping quiet about the source.

And while LiPo is great, there's probably 10 LiPo manufacturers for every NiMH manufacturer. There's a LOT of different people making cells, and the quality from one to the next is vast. We really need to limit our LiPo choices in R/C to keep things reasonable and safe. I imagine you'll see any official LiPo rules explicitly name the cells that are legal, especially when insurance (ROAR) is involved. Just a guess on my part, though.

LULz. Is it the bad cells, or the fact that Trinity yanked the rug out from under you? Spin it, baby...

I was thinking that too when I saw the price. May aswell buy competitive, matched packs instead.

I've read a couple threads about them. I match and sell Elite 1500's (2/3a) and they've been great, but I can't vouch for the 4500's.

They are cheap enough to try a pack though, at worst you'll have a practice pack, I don't know anyone who matches them yet.

I think they would offer them for less in bulk because they are the 6 cell kit for 62 bux. I can't imagine they are selling the wire, bars etc for 1.99.

You missed the new Orion 4200 cells: SHO, SHO HV and SHO EU08.

But if mainstream racing does go Li-Po, you'll have the same problem, just different players. The competition among Li-Po manufacturers will inevitably lead to cells that are too close to the edge to be called safe.

Elites 4500 are very good cells I've been running Elites for the past couple of years. Very minimal self discharge, Can compete with the other brand name cells, I Actually made elites cells my race packs at a club level and made my IB my practice packs, This cells is not sensitive like IB it can be abused. But this cell does not like to be balance after used they run really flat. Also the downside is they are not roar approve so you can't use them on a big event or other race track that goes by roar rules.

I highly recommend this Elites cells at a club level. Now I'm testing the elites Lipo 4800 (25C).... So far so good for $65 can't beat that.

They are voltage matched and don't have matching labels on them. I just got a few sets of their 4400's in to try out but haven't had a chance to use them yet. Our next season doesn't start until next month.
