WTF.......this was only the second run on this pack too...anyone else have this happen????

Generally a battery shorted on the chassis will not cause them to blow up...It melts everything and can catch on fire. The short does not cause pressure to build up in the cell's...it shorts the energy out into heat into the chassis and such and will unsolder itself.

Sounds like the cell shorted internally causing it to blow up.

Sounds like they are trying to stuff 4600 mah in a size that was originally to hold 1200 mah...what happened to the days of the 1200 scr's and just making 4 minutes of run time!!!

Are li-po's more dangerous? I tend to think not! At my local track just this winter season...I have seen 4 seperate nimh cells explode

Good job guys, the all important "voltage wars" have made Nimh batteries more dangerous than lipos. just when we were told those exploding 4200's were defective, the new cells start doing the same thing. I dont think its defects, its the chemistry itself reaching its limits. I dont think we'll ever see anything above 5000 TRUE mah in a sub-c cell. Nimh is at its limit, and the consequences are making something more dangerous than Lipo! all for a little extra voltage...

Batteries have always been an issue but now we are faced with the damage that they may cause to people and the equipment. The damage to the equipment that must be replaced when damaged or you just cant run. I am not sure but I personally have had no problems with LIPO cells in over 4 years and have had more problems with NIMH.

It may be the production of the batches, or possibly the charging process of that already damaged or bad cell. The money lost and the safety issues should be our main goals. SAFETY being the first and foremost issue over all. I am about to move on to IB4600's then I come on and read this thread and this again makes me think of my next move.
