Default Set-Up Boards

I am new to the whole carpet scene and i am trying to figure out what adjustment tools i should get. I have figured out the whole ride height thing and i am starting to understand rollout. My next challenge is a set up board. What are they and how do i use one. How nesisary is it. Which one should i get. i have a 1/10 scale touring car and a 1/12 scale car. both ran on carpet.

I have also seen some guys with a Purple thing that sits on there setup boards and they sit the car on it. it seems to act like a balence. What is this and is that a nesisary thing to use to.

Thanks

most of the time, any racers will have a setup boar. it just acts as a flat surface to work on thats all. doesnt have to be a hudy borad, just as long as it's flat and water proof/oil proof and doesnt have sharp corners

those shiny purple stuff must be setup tools that people use to do adjustments to their cars.
some of the basic tool that i have are (i have a hudy set):

camber gauge
toe gauge
ride hide gauge
downstop gauge
metal rule
venier caliper

some others have more than that but it pretty much what you need for your car settings.

Unity Tool makes the nicest set up tweak station I have ever used you can set toe, camber and check tweak on any car from an 1/8th scale to a 1/12th scale very easily without ever taking the wheels off the car

Uhm.....I wonder who's Unity Tweek set up he is talking about!

This is a tool that I purchased 15 years ago, still is in great shape, and as bull dog said, does a lot. I also use a flat board for checking ride height. Not much else you need. And yes they still sell them.

Yes this is the correct set up station. The older version also has a center line, so you can check the offset on the wheels on both sides. Not as accurate as niftech, but still very good.
