As it turns out, I have had a blown Victor power supply in my "junk but don't throw away" box for YEARS... I just noticed it sitting in there today...

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Degull for bringing the subject up... I guess I'll order up some compnents tomorrow and see if I can't get him working again...

Still waiting for the transistors from Newark Electronics. It seems like it's taking forever. Let you guys know what happens after I install them. Thanks.

The transistors showed up today. I installed them and like magic the power supply is fully functional again!!!!

V12, I can't thank you enough for your help. My friend is going to be super happy because he loves this little power supply. If it wasn't for all your help, I think I would have given up already. There is no way I would have ever found the part # for those transistors. I hope anyone else who might have the same problem with their Victor power supply reads this post and the credit should go to V12 !!!

Thanks and take care.

Thats awesome its working again!

I've fixed several Victor supplies myself(and many a HI IQ)
I've seen the TL494CN die several times, anyone deciding to repair one may want to buy a TL494CN when they order other parts just to have on hand.

No problem, Iīm glad I could help you a little and you got that Victor PS back to life again. Congrats on that!
I remember I had a hard time fixing my own Victor that time when I had no schematics. After that I did repair some others from fellow racers and I think there were a lot of broken Victor PS.
Very few had the TL494 broken but always the transistors and diodes, sometimes also additional parts.
I just know from one Victor what couldnīt be fixed again. On that unit the HF transformer had been smoked after that guy did override the currentlimiter for pulling more than the rated amps. Bad idea.

Iīm also still using my Victor as 2nd unit at home.

We will bring your Victor also back to life again.
Just try and be careful as I said before.
