NOVAK BRUSHLESS SENSOR WIRES

can they be cut shortened and resoldered

Turbo Joe 12-25-2007 06:35 PM

I'm sure you could do it, but it would be tricky. It would work, but it would be tough to do it nice.

I think the nice way to do it would be to take off the sensor board and shorten that end of the harness. It would probably be easier to do it that way...I may try it on an older one I have here. :sneaky:

you may be able to do a search on HobbyTalk on this issue...somebody over there asked this question a while back and someone else posted a part number for a kit for the electrical connector pins...so you could just clip the wires and put NEW ends on them and slide them into the plastic plug.

I think it was about 2-3 months ago time wise.

You are better off getting this from Novak,A 4" sensor wire

That sensor harness is going to do WHAT for you? The NOVAK motors don't have a removable HARNESS - those are for use with motors like the LRP that have a harness that unplugs.

The pin connectors are just like the STOCK pins, and allow you to CUT you wires to length, and put the new ends on them w/o having TO CUT and SHRINK WRAP your wires together...

I guess i had a Brain Fart

Do it.

Yes you can do it. Yes it works just fine.

I have done 10-15 of them and they all work perfect.

Just pick up some small heat shrink (dubro green) for the individual wires, and somr larger shrink for the whole loom. (big enough to slide the connector easily)

Cut to length, solder, shrink each wire, then shrink the whole loom.
It looks good and works great.

or you can just fold and then heat shrink the whole loom to length
i do this for 1/12.:)
it looks like the lrp wire.

They are very easy to do.Just note where the wires go in the plug, use a x-acto knife to remove the wires from the plug.(push the little flat piece in and pull the wire out of
the plug). Clip off to length and resolder. It helps to turn your iron down so you don't melt the wire covering. They will solder up real nice that way. Then just push it back in into the plug.Looks factory.Just remember to
turn the heat down!
