ackerman is an adjustment that some/many of us overlook.how does more or less ackerman affect turn-in and steering throught the corner? using on floing tracks VS tight tracks.

thanks

Ian: Glad your doing well, see you at the races. well get you back in an Xray some day.

Island Losi: ackerman is very important, especially when running a spool do to the diff not being able to make up for lost or gained ground while courning.
In general less ackerman (tires are more paralell)makes the car smoother on center (less turn in), then it will also normally give you more steering coming out.
For rubber tires with spool it seems to be more of a ballance thing, less seems to transfer more weight over the front, and more seems to to keep the front end up more threw the courner and by this and transfer more weight over the rear. Hope this helps, let me know if im unclear.

Thanks paul

Default class specific.

Sup Paul.

I run at a club level only and am wondering if there should be any setup differences with a car that is running a 27 turn stock versus all the crazy horsepower mod stuff you guys run?
Regarding spring setup, oils ,camber, roll centers etc.

Thanx in advance
Dave.

Mtbboy: In the past i never thought that the set ups had to be different, but in recent times with the modified cars getting way faster do to brushless i think that it could "possibly" become nessissary. That being said, to be honest I dont know what if anything you would want to change.
Maybe after the novak race i will know more. in the past i have been able to take my winning mod car and win the same 19t race with it, so the future will tell weather that is still possible for anyone to do. the speed difference is becoming greater but for now i think that a good mod set up is still a good stock set up.

Default Hubs

Hi Paul,
Do you know if either HPI pro4 or TAO5 front steering blocks (hubs) will fit the Xray 007 ? I have checked the HPI and they are the same size outside but I dont know about the bearings. Only seen photos of the TAO5 ones. I would like alloy and the TAO5 = $15, Xray = $50 +.
