Hi guys, I have ordered a Kimbrough 48P 72T Spur Gear. About AU$10. I will be picking it up from my LHS tomorrow morning. I will put it on and take it for a spin. If I get time, I will organise a cam and strap it to the car somehow and record it, lol. Have fun, talk tomorrow

I just did some quick maths on what you are runnin and you should have a rollout of about 32mm. I would expect to blow a 6t motor up with that rollout. your internals must be 2.125 which makes it about 27mm which is still hairy for a 6t. I would guess that your batts and motor are not in the best condition. Get yourself down to your local track and get someone to look your motor over. Epic based mods are not the best but run good at around 10degrees of timing. with the load you are putting on it I wouldn't go above that.

Hi there, I see you have some knowledge in electric motors lol. I am more of just a street basher, all I do is muck around, drift and go for high speeds etc. So therefore, I wouldn't know anything about the 10mm timing.
Is it fairly easy to adjust it to 10mm timing? If so, is there any sites that show you how to, because I wouldn't mind learning. Cheers

HI GUYS, IF I WERE TO USE A NOVAK 3.5R BL SYSTEM WITH A 48P 86T SPUR, 48P 25T PINION, 63MM FOAMIES AND A 6 CELL BATTERY IN A XRAY T1 WITH AN INTERNAL GEARBOX RATIO OF 2.125 WOULD IT REACH APPROX 120KPH? THE 3.5 DOES 10,500 RPM TO EVERY VOLT. TIMES IT BY 7.2 YOU GET 75,600 RPM. I CALCULATED IT ON THIS WEBSITE:
http://www.rcracing.com/Page.cfm?InfoID=1100

COULD SOMEONE CHECK IT FOR ME AND TELL ME IF I HAVE GONE WRONG SOMEWHERE?

THESE ARE THE DETAILS REQUIRED TO CHECK ESTIMATE SPEED:
CAR: XRAY T1
TRANNY RATIO: 2.125
SPUR: 86
PINION: 25
TIRE: 63
RPM: 75600

CHEERS

yer it would in a perfect world but the motor wont work at 100% effeciency, you also have to account for wind resistance and other things like friction and stuff

it'll be fine esp if ur running a gtb, just make sure u check heat of motor, esc and cap and if their too hot just give it a rest. after all it will just thermal in a worse case cenario

Hi Pie_robot
I want to buy a Novak or LRP 3.5 bl setup. What is the maximum rollout you would reccomend on these setups? I was thinking about a 25mm rollout. Some people say don't go over 20mm rollout and some say max about 22. Do you roughly know what is the max rollout I should go to without frying anything? Cheers
