Default club points

We have a club and are curious to hear how other clubs race for points. Currently racers get points to show up, and we have 1-2 throw outs depending on the season. I am just looking for ideas as we go into our season next month.

at our club 1st place gets 10 points 2nd gets 9 3rd gets 8 etc. we hav four races a meet and you add all your points except for your worst race, the points of your worst race do not count towards your total. at the end of the night the total for the night go's towards the season points(all the points you have earned added together) hope this helps

At our club we gets points for qualifying position (100, 99, 98, etc.) plus points for final position (same).

We race indoors in a school hall, so we divide the year into 3 race series. 15 meetings to each series, best 10 scores to count.

Our club awards 100 pts for 1st, 99 for 2nd, 98 for 3rd, etc.

Plus for qualifying: 4 pts for top qualifier, 3 pts for 2nd qualifier, 2, pts for 3rd qualifier, and 1 pt for 4th qualifier.

This gives a little more importance to the three rounds of qualifying, rather than the usual 1 point for only the top qualifier.

Usually 2 throw outs for 8 races
TQ=1point
1=100
2=99
3=98
ect ect

When we race nitro:
Same points stucture but we run
-10min hot lap qualifiers(1 round only u got 10minutes to make the mains,F1 style)
-resort for the 15min mains for all racers A,B,C ect
-every mains winner may bump up to the next main if they choose
(we race after work so this condenced race schedule works for us)

When we race offroad:
-same points
-with bump ups

Our season goes for 18 point scoring rounds of that only your best 12 count for the end of year points score. 3 Heats & a Final.

Heats;
1st = 20 points
2nd =18 points
3rd = 16 points & so on

Final;
1st = 40 points
2nd = 35 points
3rd = 30 points
4th = 28 points
5th = 26 points & so on

TQ = 5 points

The reason we have gone for the 5 point difference for the first 3 positions in the final is that it gives someone a chance to reclaim some points if they have some issues during the heats or miss a round.

Cheers

I came up with this format for the track I race at:

1 point for beating your fastest lap i.e. going from a 10.9 to a 10.7...so on

2 points for beating your overall laps, i.e. going from 29 laps to 30

3 points for beating the fastest lap set for the track

Your basically racing against yourself while scoring points for an overall win. And it's fair to everyone ( no more handycapping the fast girls) It works really well when there is a new layout down.

Anyway, that's what do.

5 points for TQ 100 to win and 95 for second... similar has worked for nascar for the last oh few years and it's what we ran the last 2 years for the Nashrcracer.com Nitro series. and it's worked for club racing at our local track the last 4 years.

the only thing we did was say you have a 6 month season. you take 2 races from each month towards points. even if you run all 4 weeks in a month it's your best 2 from the month. one thing that does is gives someone that's there the whole season the best chance to win as opposed to someone coming in half way and taking the championship away from someone that's there week in and week out. even if you do once a month towards points. you have 24 races in 6 months (ya I know some have 5 weeks) but their best one from each month counts. just remember it keeps the points tighter at the end if you have a full group running the full season just go to the next best in the season to break the tie. the thing is miss a month and your out but you have 4 chances to run in a month so no excuses.

it rewards the racers that support you the whole season. the local track owner came up with that one.
