XRAY 08 vs TC5

Just to butt in for a sec if you really look at the current selection of TC they all seem the same to me really, The hb cyclone, ae tc5, kyosho tf-5, 415 and 416, MR-4TC BD, Serpent S400, RDX Phi, and the Xray T2 08 all seem to have nearly the same chassis layout. Maybe I am wrong and correct me if I am but the only difference I see in EP TC can be found in the Losi and the Team Magic car.
I don't know where I am going with this but I would rather get something different than get a car that looks like and performs like all the others. No real advantage in TC anymore from the looks of it. Get what you want it's all the same, once again correct me if i am wrong (still looking for a EP TC to replace the old TC4).

If you are blinded by bling then get the Xray, if you want a car that works and at a reasonable price get the TC5, either car will be fast.

i definatly agree with Joel's post, ppl have this strange thought that if they stick with a brand they must buy there new chassis
if AE dont come out with a new car for 3-4 years the Tc5 will still be as old as the 007 in say 2010. Does that make the Tc5 better than the 007 in 2010 just because Xray has come out with newer cars?

I have not rebuilt either car and I have only had to replace 3 bad bearings over this time.
Note the T2007 was bought in Oct 06 and the orginal T2 was in oct 05.
Both cars have Aluminmum knuckels and rear carriers (The only upgrade)
as for my axles. I am still using the orginals

1. The wheel bearings are small 6x10x3mm. Chosen probably to save weight, not very durable. Most quality cars use 5x10x4mm bearings.
2. Suspension arms are very flexible. While good for hitting boards and such, not so great on carpet with foams.
3. Belts are too taught and rigid for stock racing, sapping a little too much power. No optional belts from Associated yet.
4. Plastic diffs. While lightweight, not very durable, and slightly wobbly which causes quicker wear on diff bearings.
5. Poorly designed C-Hubs break easy at the bottm screw hole.
6. Battery holder/retention parts are not well designed. Better off using tape instead.
7. Integrated Servo Saver shaft and spring retention nut poor quality/design.
8. Ball Cups from Associated are some of the worst quality. The crack easy and to not last very long.
Other than these few things, it's an OK car. Parts are cheaper than most and usually available when needed from multiple sources. So the argument really is, so you want a cheaper car with some questionable quality issues, but cheaper to maintain, or a more expensive car with quality build, more expensive replacement parts that can be harder to locate/attain.
I have no reservations in saying that if these two cars were driven by the same driver, and equally prepped, the XRay would give you better laps times, and would be easier to setup to get there.

I run a TC5 and i was wondering if you had any suggestions on ballcups that would work better as the stock ones also seem to have a lot of slop. Sorry dont mean to jack the thread.
