heating the packs is preety much for cold inviroments only.. like winter indoor racing..

if they are around 85 degrees they are fine to run. they will get slightly better when hotter but too hot is a bad thing

ROAR will not be able to require manufactueres of chargers to use higher priced componenets that minimze voltage variations. The only thing they (or any track) can do is check the voltage of each car as it passes through tech.

Just saying..one charger at the nats was found to overcharge the batteries and not the user's fault. This racer called the MFG and I spoke to them this morning. It is a resistor issue from the factory.

This was not a Reedy situation.

Heating LiPo batteries will be standard practice in all temperatures once they become the norm in R/C racing. You can bookmark this post if you'd like and refer back to it in a few years when we're all using hybrid Liposack/warming socks.

Rick...now 3 months later....is there any word on a possible production / release date on the Reedy LiPo's. Or at least an update on how the testing and final design is going?

We have already begun shipping them. They were on hand and for sale at the Carpet Nats 2 weeks ago and small quantities have been shipped since then. Large quantities are coming in by sea on the 8th and will be shipped immediately upon arrival.

They probably still have some in stock so if anyone wants them NOW, give SRS a call.

Last night was the first night out with the Reedy 5000 lipo. This was my first experience with lipo and I'm sold!! I'm the guy still running brushed, nimh and crystals and I love to prove the old school tech can hang with any of the new junk out there. So I finally picked one up and SRS and dropped it in the T4 last night. Ran all races and mains with same pack, just slapped it on the charger after running and then did a 10 minute main with a Reedy 19t quad mag. Pack had tons of punch and was fast. Felt like a brand new matched pack of nimh without the traying or cooling cycles. I'm sold on the packs and plan to get 2 more Reedy lipo packs. Also, very nice hard case, truely is a hard case and looks good in the car, almost like it is part of the car.

Only negative, the pack came with a Tamiya connector(really!). So I was forced to use a Dean's connector, which felt weird since in my 15+ years in the hobby I have never used a connector. Also, I kind of wished the wires came out thru the non-nubbed side, that way the pack goes in the same for the buggy, truck and TC. I'm just nit-picking for something wrong but there really isn't anything. Guess my wallet is going to be lighter for 2 more lipos!

tower now has these packs in stock.

I'd think they should be arriving at local shops late this week.

Is the balance connector Electrifly Equinox style? I haven't been able to find this information anywhere.

Also is a battery temperature sensor recommended if charging these on a Duratrax ICE charger at 1C rate?
