OK...whos going to blow up a 4800 lipo with 40 AMPS charge and upload pictures on Rctech after his house was burned down...?

Maybe it was two 6 cell packs, one being used to charge the other

It is the guts from one of the cells. You can see the top of one of them blew off.

What the heck does this mean?

"used 4A chg charged 4200Mah , after temp over & with smoke ...
battery used 10 cycle"

Also was there a delta peak used. I can blow up anything if I try hard enough!

My only beef with the IB's is they blow in IN THE CAR!

EP makes an outstanding product. Only one I have seen personally blow up was with a kid soldering the pack together without an good soldering iron. Held the soldering iron on the cell for WAY too long and the cell let go.

I can't believe no one has noticed that there is no connector on the two wires!!!

If the cells blew I am sure they didn't blow the connector off also.

This would lead me to believe he could have shorted them out while charging.

Actually, I always remove the connectors prior to charging. Less resistance and the sparks are pretty cool.

That would be one for the "Mythbusters", but I'm guessing there is no way for them to short.

Look closely at pic #3. there is the tell-tale sign at the very top of the pic of a black and red wire.

Also, notice the arrangement of the top 3 cells, this was clearly a 'stick' pack. No individual discharge or equalize used on this particular pack. Looks like the middle cell blew...

Whether this is true or not, it is still not acceptable for a cell to blow, even in a stick pack. I was involved with selling about 70000 stick packs a year, and I had never seen one blow up. Many failed, but no explosions.

the EP and IB have high self discharge rates when left unused, I have found the variances alot higher between cells when left unused for a week or longer.

equilizing is essntial when they have been unused for an extended period.d

Everyone should convert to Orion 3600's and be done with it! Orion also has to make equivelant to run in a 12th also.

4A charge and temp cutoff.

Hmm, exactly where was the temperature being taken on this 'sealed and heatshrunk' stick pack

Oh, I read past that...still, not in the pic does not mean not there...just pointing out the facts as they're presented.
