Default FT TC4 30102 kit by Team Associated. What is included?

Has anyone actually purchased one of these kits on the sale price from their website or their ebay store and can you tell me what is actually included for $190?

The description on their website doesn't list much of anything so I phoned AE. The guy I talked to at AE just referred me to the description below and told me I would have to order it to find out if it is the woven carbon fibre chassis or not, and what parts might be included.

I really do not understand how a manufacturing company can exist without knowing what it is building and boxing up. But... hopefully someone on here has ordered one of their web kits specifically recently and can let me know.

What AE lists...

#30102 Factory Team TC4 Kit
Body: None
Shocks: Blue Aluminum Threaded VCS
Wheels/tires: None
Drive shafts: Heavy-duty MIP CVDs
Differential: carbide-ball Associated diff
Turnbuckles: Blue titanium
Bearings: Shielded ball bearings
Electronics: None

This is a drastically different list of what used to be listed on other websites for the 30102 kit, so I am wondering. Thanks,

Yes I made the unfortunate mistake of buying a FT TC4 as my first touring car.

I had the 30102 kit and it came with CF upper and lower deck, blue alum shocks, etc. It's the "Factory Team" kit.

Well I definetely haven't raced enough to know what to like/dislike. I chose this place because it seems to have a ton of threads about everything. What do you like right now and why? I want a solid chassis, but my wife isn't terrbily understanding about dropping $800 on RC stuff.

I'm just about put off forever from AE because of that phone call and the ID 10 T code I got on the other end. He mentioned that there were two versions of the Factory Team kit, one without woven carbon fibre and one with, and he didn't know which one it was, but it couldn't be the woven one he figured. *sigh*

I'm just worried now that if somebody orders that, that they will get some shocks, a driveshaft, and a diff by the way the guy on the phone was talking.

Not that I can see myself order from them anymore but it should include the following then?

The Factory Team TC4 includes:

Double deck 2.5mm woven carbon fiber chassis
2.5mm woven carbon fiber center spine
2.5mm woven carbon fiber front shock tower
3.0mm woven carbon fiber rear shock tower
Carbon shock tower mounts
Carbon antenna mount, easy access (remove antenna/receiver without
re-threading)
Carbon servo mounts
Carbon input bearing cap
Carbon center spine mounts
Blue aluminum motor bulkhead
Blue aluminum camber link spacers
Blue aluminum standoffs
Blue aluminum clamping hex drives
Blue aluminum triangle arm mount
Blue aluminum circle arm mount
Blue aluminum square arm mount
Blue aluminum x-2.5 arm mount
Heavy-duty CVD dogbones
Full titanium turnbuckles
Factory team blue aluminum hardware
Front anti-roll bar kit (includes 3 different bars)
Rear anti-roll bar kit (includes 3 different bars)
Aluminum shock bushings
Lightweight TC4 foam bumper
2 differentials - plastic or steel. (plastic outdrives, D-rings,
diff-bolt and nut) or lightened steel outdrives (diff rings, T-nut and
bolt). Both choices are included!
2.5mm ball end L-shaped Allen-key wrench

I actually purchased 2 of the FT TC4 kits from them last monday. They were $190 each, showed up at my door last thursday, and are the full-on factory team kits. Carbon fiber upper and lower decks, aluminum shocks, motor mounts, etc... still sealed too. If I was at home I'd check the part # for you.

they did do a change on the factory team TC4 kits changing from woven carbon finer to carbon finer composite parts. personally if it doesnt have woven graphite it is NOT a factory team in my opinion. with that having been said i wish i could have got mine for 190, i paid like 389 to 450 for mine ( course that was back in 05 :P)

Injection molded carbon is cheaper to produce. It can also be "better" in a lot of ways. It doesn't have the "problem" that woven fiber has of differential flex depending on stress direction. And injected parts can have lips built in to them to provide more strength.

Both woven milled plates and injection molded parts are carbon composites.

Woven parts are generally frowned upon in many applications, as their resin ratios aren't all that great. That shiny surface is excess resin! And the weave means the fibers aren't straight. Good layups tend to have unidirectional fiber on each layer.

But this is another story entirely :-) The change, was definitely due to price. And the chassis is available for $150 retail now. (and works darned well..)

Nah, no way of telling that. He could have used Google, too - or maybe he really went back manually, reading all this old stuff... who knows?
