Default Calling on Brushless experts... I need help...

I have searched and searched but I'm not finding the answer to this one...

I have a Sphere 2007 ESC, and connected to it is a LRP X-11 4.5.

What I can not get this motor to stop doing is cogging... and most of the time it does not work.

Here is what I have learned after many hours of playing with this. One, you must set the mode on the batteries, this is very confussing to me but if you do not the ESC will lock into brush mode. How do I tell this you ask... Because when you pull the trigger the leds on the ESC will be in red on a brushed motor and leds are amber on a brushless motor...

You must have a freash charged battery. Less voltage, less likely to spin the motor.

I think the problem is the motor, because we dropped in a Novak 3.5 and everything work fine... go back to the X-11 4.5, and cogging... the preformance is less then a stock motor....

Just so you know I purchased the motor new... not used.. and on top of all this the first ESC was bad, so I purchased this 2007.

Any ideas what to do next? Or do I send it back to LRP to replace? I have no problem purchasing a 5.5 but if the X-11 motors have issues, I will move over to Novak motors. I want to find out if it is just this motor or a known problem with the X-11 motors...

Try cleaning the sensor first ...
Sometimes oil or grease from the bearing can get on it and this can cause your problem....

what i did in the same situation last year was buy a new motor, and send the faulty one back. Its a pain but you and I arent the only people who have had to do this. if you think about it this way, when u get the new one back you might want a different 5.5, or a 7.5 or something, and its usually easy to trade a new one for the other one u wana try. also, lrp is really good about customer service, but of course nobody likes to have faulty electronics out of the box, but they will take care of you. just my 2 cents

Cleaning it is did not work...

I have no problem with returning it. I just wished the local LHS had LRP product, so I could pickup a 5.5...

Just wanted to make sure it was the motor and not something I'm doing...

replace the sensor cable.
If it works fine with the novak motor, your speedie is safe, it either the lRP motor or the sensor wire.

first - did you try to do the setup from the esc again? (this is not changing the throtle modes)

second - How do you clean the motor?

Third - The motor is new? Whats the gear ratio?

Try putting a shim on the pinion end of the rotor. If the rotor is too far from the Hall effect sensors, they won't pick up its magnetic field and the motor will cog.

Many times, what I found is that I had to set the profiles first then the setup of the ESC...

It's possible that one of the sensors is just bad. I had that happen with my LRP 13.5, which is now off for repair.

I know I had a sensor go south in a Novak waaay back and it just wouldn't start if it was near that particular position. If you turned it at all (so a different sensor), it go go just fine, but if it stopped there, it wouldn't go.
