I saw a few mains...

Zorc is stupid fast in Mini. Was killing peeps.

Cyrils Kyosho car looked very good. In A1 his car handle way better then Blackstock but Blackstock had ridiculous power that round.

Jucha did well in A1 jumping up to 3rd and finishing 3rd overall

Fred Kellner just rocks for being the only guy with zero sponsors in the A of 13.5 foam.
Wouldn't call Cyrul's car a Kyosho - he doesn't run for them anymore and it is his own design anyway. Congrats to Cyrul and Blackstock for some fine finishes.

The Novak race was well-organized and a lot of fun. Brushless is a huge help to the overall enjoyment and consistency of racers. I personally love not having to mess around with motors and cutting comms. The 13.5 is a good, solid motor and it is the same for everybody.

Really, I cannot complain that my power was any different than anyone else's. This race was all about driving, chassis set-up, and tire management. The last point was sort of a pain. Tires came unglued after every two runs and I must have emptied a quarter of a bottle of CA on my fingers over the course of the weekend. But, there really is no way around that.

Hand-out tires needed to be scrubbed and when the track got very tacky, they had too much traction. I saw Lee Passehl's car up on two wheels in front of the driver's stand. There was a lot of traction rolling. But, that's the reality of super high-tack carpet racing at a major event.

Overall, I have only good things to say about the job that Novak and Trackside did at this race.

I agree I bought a brushless system just for this race and thought it is great. this will definately be the way of the future I also went ahead and got me another system for my offroad truck.

I will say this has been by far the most fun I have had at a race ever. I had so much fun i'm looking into going to another race as long as it is brushless.

I agree with ottoman on the tires. the tires were not bad as far as the rubber goes. I think they could have been glued a bit better on the inner bead, but on the other hand with hundreds of tires they will not all be perfect

there is something i think that needs to be brought up which i have not seen anyone mention. Everyone that was there racing walked away with something wether it be anything from a t-shirt a hat or what ever everyone got a giveaway and i think that is awsome. actualy now that i think of it everyone got 2 things. Novak had that goody bag in our pits on saturday morning.

Scotty, you did an awsome job with the race

Neil - good point about the freebies. To all who have never attended a Novak race - this is more than just a race. It is truly an event. I was constantly occupied from New Year's day morning until getting home last night. Great stuff was being given out all weekend. My tally:

- Event t-shirt
- Novak gift on Saturday morning (solder, fan, Novak batt. bars)
- Duratrax aluminum body reamer
- Novak t-shirt

Many people got much more. There was a Hakko soldering iron that was given away in the raffle. I bought 24 tickets to give me the best chance at it, but to no avail... If you were in an A-main or won a lower main, you got a really, really sharp trophy, Novak shirt or hat, and I think even a Smart Tray. That is a lot of expensive and nice stuff.

If you won the 13.5 rubber E-Main, you won a brand-new XRAY T2008.

But, after this event, I am 100% sold on brushless. I will never buy another brushed motor unless it is for a special purpose (i.e. Tamiya mini race, rubber tire nationals). My 13.5 clicked away like a champ all weekend without even a single glitch.

Watched this race all weekend long in live R/C. It was an easy race to follow online with scotty anouncing everyones position in qualifying and during the main.

Novak please do an event like this in the west coast......

Did anyone else notice how quiet the pits were?

No, I don't mean people weren't talking - They were.
No, I don't mean people weren't watching DVD's on laptops - They were.

I mean all weekend, I did not hear one single dyno rev up. I did not hear people running their motors on a Turbo 35 for break in. Instead of the normal "race" background noise, you heard people talking, the football games on TV, ect. It was actually a really nice change in the racing environment.

If I remember correctly he had kyosho listed as a sponsor. As well as having stickers on his body. Don't know if that really means anything or not.

Also to all the racers that came to pick up your event shirts right away thank you. As weird as it sounds it takes rachel & I some time to get everything organized. A tip to everyone who didn't this year. Make sure you put your shirt size on your entry. This will make the handing out process ten times easier. It will also keep us from having you wait. I have some ideas to speed up the process for next year. Hope everyone had fun I know I did even though I wasn't racing.

Peace Aaron(W-W)
