So what makes this cell any different to the IB/EP cells that have caused so much issue.... same AV, so I assume the IR is low to....

The only way I could see that happen is a slightly bigger cell size to help reliability issues, being a typical 100mah less too could help too, and/or being made from scratch and has a new cell structure?

Purely a guess though... Just hope the outer cell casing or vent structure isnt any weaker than IB's.... or there is trouble potentially brewing...

From what I have heard this is cell is not manufactured by IB it is a new supplier and the cell was designed with all the IB concerns in mind.

Danny/SMC

Do you know if these cells are going to get EFRA approval?

Due to the new EFRA rules I'm not sure if we can submit a cell rated at 4600 and still meet the new rules. Were waiting on the cell manufacturer to give us info on what they expect the capacity to be. What is a shame with these new rules are that the cells are actually made to the Industry standard but when you use/abuse them like we do in RC car racing the cells do expand a bit which happens to any cells that will encounter such high charge and discharge rates.

The battery business confuses me...

There was all kinds of resistance to certain cells (like EP's), and others in the past. Then, this cell comes out and everybody jumps on it like it's the greatest thing ever. Is this because NiMH desperate needs to get back some credibility after the IB fiasco, or because there's some kind of back room dealings going on, or just coincidence?

Also, what's with this trend of trying to hide the cell's manufacturer? Are people really going for that?

There is nothing confusing about the battery business. Cell matchers buy cells from cell manufacturers and match them up. Then the racers buy them and if they like the way they perform this becomes the most popular cell.

The message boards are great to give out info and help but it always seems like a few guys always think that there is more to everything. Bottom line racers will decide what cells they want to race with. There is nothing bad with having more choices as that keeps pricing honest and the consumer has a choice.

Eh, that's just the nature of the Internet I think. I figure I'm probably reading too much into it. It just seems odd that there was so much resistance toward EP cells, but these come along and everybody is jumping on them. Maybe it's the awesome shrink, they sure LOOK fast. :-)

I do appreciate that you guys get on here and sincerely answer questions, though. Thank you for that.
