Well, hopefully I get to try these packs again tonight. Currently charging at 7amps with 3mv cutoff per cell. Pack comes off charger at 114 degrees F. Packs are taking just shy of 4600 mah when charged. I am going to try 4mv cutoff to bring the temp up just a little more and to put back 4600 mah in the cells. The numbers are coming up though, cycling at 35 amps; average voltage is 5.05v resistance is 5.1 (4-cell).

So what your saying is your cells are are 1.26 average voltage at 35 amp discharge I think you need to recheck your numbers.

trilerian: I would reccomend increasing the charge rate while keeping the peak detect lower if you want more temperature out of your pack.

Josh H: T35s are great but they do tend to be different from one to the next. I know that I have 2 of them and they both read differently. The way you set them up for cycling a pack and the pack temperature will all have an impact on the numbers. This is why posting pack cycling numbers is pretty much useless unless the same T35 is used.

I just cycled two new Ener-G packs and the voltage numbers look great. As Danny said above, the numbers you get from cycling packs on different CE chargers will vary, so I am just comparing voltage numbers between my Ener-G packs and my IB 4200's that I cycled last night. I have an old T30 so I charged at 6 and discharged at 30.

I have two 4 cell packs of IB4200's (newest batch) that were brand new at Cleveland and now each have about 6-7 cycles on them. These were very good race packs at the champs and they came out at 4.89 and 4.90 voltage. I actually pulled wheelies with my 12th scale car at that race. Then I cycled the 2 Ener-G packs and they came out with even higher higher voltage numbers of 4.97 and 4.98. I can't wait to try these new cells on the track. I'm sure they will perform great in the car too.

I'll let you all know how they perform after racing this weekend.

Anyone know if these cells are ROAR approved? I know the next approval "window" for cells is either april or may and the carpet nats are in march.

when cycling packs you also need to take into consideration the quality of the assembly of the pack. crappy solder ing will kill numbers. i can't say i have cycled a IB 4 cell pack with #'s lower than 4.88 at 35 amps

when you get above 4.98 you have something......if the energ cells can hold up with decent #'s for two months that would make them leaps and bounds better than a IB cell........

gfx 4 cell pack #'s for either IB or EP

this is not on new packs but packs 2 or more months old

395 run time 4.94 volts as high as 400 run time and 4.99 volts as low as 4.88 volts 378 run time.....it's the run time you realy lose if you don't keep a charge in them.i have not gotten my energ sticks in the mail yet......i will post up #'s when they get close to two months old just to compare the three cells.....that is IF the energ cells aren't a rebadged EP cell.....time will tell the tale..i realy liked how the EP cells ran on the track.... i'm talking 4 cell oval

I believe that ROAR is making a 1 time exception and is in the process of testing the Ener-G 4600 and IB4600 cell to be approved very soon. It was posted somewhere else.

yes, we are making a one time exception on the 4600 mah cells - deadline for submittal is 12/31/07. We have received the IB's, the EnerG's and the Orion's per email today from the Technical Director.

This isn't going to happen again....

....we do have twice a year approvals and that is the best for our membership and has been keeping the battery wars at bay.... but, we might need to consider something else for later 2008 and into 2009 regarding weights of cells instead of mah. The 43mm can can only hold so much.. and it appears that is being pushed to the limits and is that really safe for our membership?
