I really don't think that packs should be praised based on their performance over a handful of runs.
I think people are just trying to give updates on performance as we get them up to 30+cycles.

umm...30 cycles...5 runs a day...3 race days a week+ cycles in between race days. Yup Ill be at 30 next week.

I have no problem with Lipo's what so ever...EAM will have them for sale with in the next month or so. I just hate all the bashers on here. This thread says Ener-G 4600.....Nothing about Lipo's. People just need to go to a lipo thread and be constructive there.....Its those people that give the others a bad rap.

just a little OT: How often are you guys, cycling these 4200+ cells with low IR's? Any cells in general not just IB's, EP's Ener-G's.

I ran one of these packs tonight. I can't quite give a fair appraisal of it, as I dropped one tooth in the pinion before the main. But I was two laps off my qualifying pace with the pack. However I would like to give them a fair shake in the future. One thing I noticed was that the packs don't get as hot as my ib4200's when charging. I charge my ib's at 5.5amps with a 3mv cutoff per cell, they come off the charger at 124 degrees F. This pack I charged at 6 amps with a 4mv cutoff per cell and it came off the charger at 110 degrees F. I want to try charging at 7 amps to see if it makes a difference. But tonight I wasn't convinced.

EDIT: 1/12th scale racing.

One thing with these cells is they do not cycle very well the very first charge or if they have been sitting for a long time with charge in them (such as new or if you dont race for a few weeks). These cells like to be ran in practice once and they raced a couple of times in the same day. Which to me this is great for everyone as it means less cells to have to have to race on.

One of they key things I look at when testing and cycling cells is the temerature of the cells at the end of the charge. With cells from different manufacturers they all reach a different temperature at the end of the charge. This is why some cells/packs need to use a lower peak detect or higher charge current so they can reach the optimum cell temperature.

So if your pack is 14 degress cooler you need to either bump up the peak detect or the charge rate. I personally would go with the higher charge rate so you may want to try 8 amps and see what kind of temperature your getting.

As cells are being shipped with storage charge in them and that every cell self discharges at it's own rate it's important to run/cycle the pack once before it gets used in important racing conditions. So the key is to discharge and tray the pack prior to its first charge and then it should be good to race. As you will store the packs with charge the next time you go to race it you should repeat the same process.

Im sure those cells loved all that heat that you exposed them to. Keep that process up and they will be dead in a few weeks too.
