Ofna Tire Truer replacement carbide cutting bit
I bought a used Ofna truer a while ago and have been using it pretty regularly at my house. A few days ago a racing buddy commented on how rough my truer left my tires after a cut. So I strated looking at the cutting bit on his $400 Hudy truer and comparing ti to the piece of hacksaw blade on mine and decided to see if I could get my truer to cut smoohter. So I went to Home Depot with hope of finding a cheap hacksaw blade with a fine tooth count and found the following . . .
http://www.oregontools.com/botjigsawblt3.html It doesn't have teeth, but rather a clump of sharp points formed of carbide it appears. When I got home I clamped it in place of my old blade and viola! Nice smooth cuts now! Now a new blade might have netted the same results, but this worked like a charm for me. EDIT The old link stopped working. Here's something similar https://www.boschtools.com/us/en/bos...30rf1-29811-p/ Just thought I would share as I know a buch of guys are using the hacksaw replacement. One more option for ya. :) |
Why not just get the Hudy carbide bit and never worry about it again. I put one on my Integy truer and it works great.

I'd lean toward toward $1.39 over $46.50+shipping if the end result is the same.
I can't help but think the jigsaw blade is good for a replacement as well. Chris |
