Default 5 cell mod vs lipo mod Touring car

Has anyone compared how performance of running 5 cell mod vs running lipo. I know when most guys were allowed to run 5 cell, everyone ran faster. will a lipo feel more like a 6 cell pack again? or does it have a different feel all together?

Thanks

Its like a 6 cell pack again.

5 cell is faster because the cars are more driveable

I am wondering if running LiPo or 6 cell would be good if you motor down to a 6.5 or 5.5 from the 3.5's guys are running with 5 cell.

Default Lipo & Mod.

Lipo is the way to go in mod in my opinion. You get the lighter wieght, yet far less battery care to mess with. A milder motor will be in order thats for sure.
However, if you can get past the mental issues some people seem to have with running less the the most motor they can buy, you'll surely be better off.

Lipo and a 6.5, so nice!

to further expand on this thread.
Are there lipo packs that are considered more mild than others.
for instance, the orion 3200, 3600, 4800, core 5000
-
other than the mah, what are the differences in punch/power of the lipo packs out there.

They all have pretty much the same performance....just more or less capacity. The smaller packs are more limited in the current they can flow and maintain voltage. This would make the bigger packs faster for mod where you can draw a lot of amps.

Lets assume they are all considered 25C packs. This means they can deliver 25x their amp hour rating in current safely.

A 3200 can supply up to 80A

A 3600...80A

A 4800...120A

A 5000...125A

All of the above can be run in any class but you will have a hard time making run time with anything less then the 4800 if you run mod.

The 3200 is rated at 20C

The 3600 is rated at 25C

Corrected list:

A 3200 (20C) can supply up to 64A

A 3600 (25C)...80A

A 4800 (15C)...72A

A 5000 (25C)...125A

I know the cells in the Core 5000 are rated conservatively at 25C.

lets not forget that is theoretical amps....because I= V
-
R

I being current....V=voltage and R=resistance.....so it 'can' flow 15/20/25c...doesnt mean it actually will..

and 0 I.R is impossible....not even superconductors can achieve it!

I am quite familiar with Ohm's law but thats not what we are talking about. The amp figures below represent what the battery manufactuers claim thier batteries can safely supply for a short (1-2 sec) burst without damaging the pack.

Can any of the batteries below supply 200A for 10 sec? Sure if you have a great enough load but they all will be toast afterwards.

What the "C" figure really shows is how efficient a cell is at releasing energy. The highter the C rating the more power you will feel.

I wonder about the same thing... theoretically i don't see why a 1400 grs lipo car with 5.5T should be slower than a 1400 gra 5 cell powered by a 3.5T.

But i have a feeling 6v systems have a smoother power band than 7.4v systems with slowers motors.
Anybody has experience with these to configurations?
