Default wheel offset?

ok, i know what wheel offset is, but is there any advantage to having 6mm offset wheels other than to be able to use 200mm bodies? does it offer any better handling? or is it simply because some manufacturers use it so they only need to make 200mm bodies?

HPI make the big offset wheels and the only reason they do it is to let you fit 200mm shells without it looking dumb. This is because HPI haven't been bothered with making 190mm versions of most shells for some time.

As far as handling goes, the car will be wider so should grip more and be more stable. However there are lots of other little things going on in the geometry too, basically the modern race cars are optimised for zero offset wheels so are designed to handle well on them.

6mm offset will make the car too wide for racing anyway.
