Diagnose my brushes (pics)

2 Attachment(s)
6 runs on a new Orion RC Edition 12X1. Motor lacked rip so I pulled it apart and the outer portion of each brush has not touched the comm.

Any idea what the cause of this may be? I true'd the comm and it took 3 small passes and the stock timing is 18.

(FYI, I have two of these motors and the other one had no such problems after 6 runs)

Thanks.

Most likely, the brush hoods on the motor aren't centered right. Try that it should help.

I think you need more spring tension...

Thanks for the help.

BUT, can you even adjust the hoods on Orion Revolution motors? These came out of a 12X1 RC Edition.

Good Q. The tube should be good? You would have to align the brush by making sure the spring doesn't twist the brush.
Wheres a wizard when you need them.?

Spring tension should help, but ya, I dunno if you could align the hoods? depending where you got it, they might honor you getting a new endbell from the company? Cause im pretty sure there is no way to align Rev motors..

*Another reason to go brushless :)*

You Can't adjust the hoods on the V2 endbells. Make sure that the brushes can go through the tubes being forced by the spring tension when the arm is not installed in the endbell. You will have to obviously take the motor apart to do this. If the brushes can move freely by hand forward and backwards smoothly in the tubes, then reinstall everything and allow more time for brush break in. What type of brushes were these?

Hope this helps,
Steve

Thanks again.

The brushes were Sprints.
