lipo problem

so i have an orion 4800 mah and i recently punched a small hole in the case with the drive shaft on my motor ( on a touring car). The drive shaft went through the case and mad a small dent in one of the lipo cells. Is this battery still safe to run? - ive done 2 charges on the battery since it happened - actually im not really sure when it happened but i know ive been running the battery with the dents

I'd run it.

BTW -- What car do you have where the motor shaft can hit the battery????

im running a schumacher mi2 with a novak 13.5ss brushless stock. It sucks that if i dont tape down the battery well enough it can slide over into the drave shaft. - I think it may have happened with a sudden impact

Try some of that IRS tape, it might help. Also, you might consider adding the weights to the bottom of the pack from Nexus, the should fit into the battery slots and help secure the pack better. I've seen some guys mount little "stoppers" made from lexan to their chassis as well to keep the battery from sliding toward the belt.

I wonder how long it'll be until companies offer optional chassis with the chassis milled down in a rectangular shape so the packs can fit down in the chassis a bit and not slide around as easily.

When I had a Mi2 I have done this:

Nice! - im gonna get one of those straps. I talked to orion. They told me that as long as the cells themselves arnt puntured, its ok if they get dented. Im gonna send them a close up pic though to be safe

Those are nice straps I think I might have to get one also.

Good looking strap system, I think I would be interested in one also. How does it mount? Do you drill holes in the chassis and countersink them to put flush screws in from the bottom?|

We have done the same way.

We used the same screws that came in the kit to hold the aluminium tray. We just had to make a new hole in the front (the third one).

The straps are bolted to the aluminium tray

Look another picture. Hope that helps.
