Default Best brushless/ESC package

What is the best brand of Brushless Speed Control/Motor?

I want serious power in a straight line

At the moment there are 3 contenders.

1) Novak 3.5
2) LRP
3) Traxxas Veleion System

Is there a website that tells you how much power these things put out?

Having seen them run, I can tell you that the Velineon systems from Traxxas are about as fast as a Novak 6.5 or so at the very best... Thus the 3.5 would be WAY faster than the Traxxas Velineon... LRP and Novak are your best bet, and Novak offers "High Voltage" rigs that might open new opportunities...

To be fair, one local has been using 11.1v LiPo with his Velineon, and it really makes that system come alive!

for straight line speed go for the castle creations mamba max 5700kv package and a 3 cell lipo higher kv than the the traxxas and can handle a 3 cell lipo, which novak and lrp cant. for 6 cell racing, either the novak or lrp 3.5's would be better but for balls out speed the mamba 3c would be better(get the 5700 if you want a 3 cell lipo, the 6700 and 7700 cant handle a 3 cell)

Good question. I use all brushless in my r/c aircraft (about six systems), but still use brushed in my cars/buggies/trucks. Maybe soon, but that is 3 T/C's 1 buggy and 1 truck

Heres the specs.

http://www.teamnovak.com/products/br...spec_chart.htm

http://lrp.cc/e/lis/05_Electric-Moto...or_Tech_Vector

They both put out similar power (the LRP has more torque and the Novak has higher RPM). I think the HV Novak system would probably put out more power than the 5700 on 3 cells.

Can't beat a Mamba Max system if you are looking for shear power/speed. You can't compare Novak and MM motors on paper. The MM motors are flat out more powerful than the sensored motors... never mind the kv ratings. In fact, you really need to tune out a lot of punch to make them work good on the dirt.

At a recent big race I ran a MM5700 (similar kv to a 8.5) in a T4 with the punch control about 50%, my M8 set with EXP -40% and the EPA down 10-15%, on and old 5 cell 3800 pack and it could still pull a wheelie, and had top end like all the other mod trucks. Just think what happens on 2s or even 3s lipo.....

You should see what Castle has coming in the next few months... ...absolutely insane motors....

If you are running normal 6 cells nimh, the Novak 3.5 would still be a good choice. But I would put a MM7700 up against it (geared tall of course) without shaking in my boots, LOL.

The Traxxas system just needs more voltage to wake it up. On 6 cells it doesn't have enough rpm, even with a tall gearing. A good 3s lipo does fix that though.

Default all out speed

For all out speed, Mamba system is my choice, esc and 5700 can handle 3S Lipo. I personally use the Mamba 6900 system and is insanely fast in my pro4... cheers..
