Default Brushless system for TL01

Hello guys,
I've a TL01 chassis with ESC and a Team Onion Drift Machine 18T motor and 4200mah battery.
I would like to upgrade to a brushless system Team Novak XBR Sport.
Could anybody tell me which model to use (8.5, 10.5 or 13.5).
Is the comparison with brushed motors on Novak site real???

thanks

unfortunatly with the TL01s many many gears anything more than a stock type motor is too much. I would say the 13.5 would be ok and possibly the 10.5 but thats iffy. Your best bet would be to get the brushless system and plan on getting a new car if you want to race. If you just want to drift around the 13.5 should be ok just use the biggest gear you can fit on a TL01

Yep, I agree. Unfortunately, the TL01 gears are too fragile for big power, even a 13.5 might be pushing it.

If you do decide to go brushless, replace all the gears with brand new stuff and make sure you have bearings in the drive-train instead of the cheap plastic bushings. That will help it last a little longer.

Guys, thank you!
I'm also planning to use the brushless with standard pinion 19 and add these two items:
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/produc...oducts_id=9944
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/produc...ducts_id=14248

Do you think this will let me use the 10.5 brushless?

thanks

The problem is all the friction caused by all those internal gears. If you want to go fast get a new car. Instead of investing in hop ups for the TL01 buy yourself a TA05 and they you can run the 10.5 or even the 8.5 and not worry so much. If your really set of keeping the TL01 I would just stick with the 13.5.

I've drifted and rally raced a TL01 with the Novak SS5800+ brushless setup. I can tell you a lot of guys in Hawaii had the same setup without issue. If you get the 10.5 & run the 19T pinion, that's actually about max for the car. If you go to a 21T pinion and race it, it will go into thermal shutdown after a few minutes. Make sure you at least have bearings in your TL01 and don't use the speed tuned gear set because that will make your gear ratio too high resulting in thermal shutdown.

As for the parts you are looking to buy from RCMart, I'm going to tell you to save your money. I bought that heatsink motor mount and it didn't do much at all, plus you have to flush cut a piece off of your chassis as well as glue in the plastic gear cover. A slim clip-on motor heatsink will do a much better job. The aluminum gear will slow your car down due to added rotating weight and also wear down you other gears much faster, so I really wouldn't recommend this either.
